  i know an elder (hermann) who is so fat and out of shape that his wife has to mow the lawn and shovel the entrance.

  she also works hard inside to make his food and keep everything clean.

  he is 73 and she is 70.. i wonder what verse he uses to make her do so much?

  Do you like elders who abuse their wives by making them do too much? I go to their book study, I know them, you don't, so please listen for a change.

  "Listen for a change"? I've been listening to shit like yours for over 20 years - people with absolutely no medical qualifications whatsoever - making pronouncements about the state of someone else's health.

  He eats like a pig, and he is way overweight for an elder who preaches and should give the example.

  And who made you judge over him? Why do you look at the size of his stomach yet ignore the size of your own mouth? A big mouth is far more offensive than a thousand big stomachs.

  If he can't do the work outside, he can hire someone, he has the money. Why make his poor wife do so much.

  First of all, his money is his business, not yours. And maybe his wife enjoys the exercise. My mother did the yard work until she was well into her seventies because she enjoyed the exercise.

  JH, you are displaying the attributes of a typical JW by sticking your nose where you have no business and pronouncing judgements on people you have no authority over. You must be attending too many meetings.

  Allow me to rephrase. Are you a qualified medical professional who has examined him and performed an educated diagnosis? If not, than I assume your remarks about his obesity are intended to be humourous.

  Smoking is a choice. Obesity, while often an indicator of excessive caloric intake or too little exercise, can also be caused by other health issues. Are you acquainted with his medical history? Or are you speaking in ignorance?

  Some are submissive, some are not. But there are plenty of legitimate reasons to criticize the JWs, so I don't see the need to stoop to the level of running them down for their weight or state of health. You can find overweight, unhealthy people in any segment of society.

  my husband is a d'fed jw and i think he is gonna try and make his way back there .

  they dont believe in fate?

  (long story short, we were high school sweethearts, didnt see each other since xmas 1993 even though we lived in the same city then he ran into my mother xmas 2003, while i lived in charlotte and he was here in maryland, i moved back to maryland 3 weeks later and we were married 7 months after that- i believe in fate, i dont think its far fetched to believe that god has a plan for everyone).

  He will NOT read anything religious if it doesnt come from them.

  There are plenty of contradictions, lies, and flip-flops in their own literature. They apostasize against their own teachings regularly, and their own literature is the best weapon against them.

  an elder in our hall used to drink his wine before evening meetings regularly, and on more than a few occasions was "buzzed" and laughing up on the platform while giving a talk.

  I felt that meetings were a sacred thing, and I would never have defiled myself by drinking before a meeting. That would be a sin against Jehover!

  Besides, why would anyone want to spoil a good buzz by going to the kingdom hall? Stay home and order pizza, watch TV, and have a few more beers.

  Disfellowshipped for being fat and not watching my cholesterol

  i find the concept of taking select warnings of the medical and science world, to disfellowship members, and ignoring others ... all the more interesting as i think about it.

  after all, heart desease is the biggest killer in the americas.

  heart desease and heart related deaths are often linked to and not exclusive to; obesity, high cholesterol, fatty foods, not exercising, high stress, etc.. with this in mind, i dare someone to call an elder and report that they saw one of the local witnesses eating at mcdonalds, even though the doctor warned them it could kill them.

  Once when I was in service™ I slipped on the ice in someone's driveway, fell, and injured my knee. Imagine if I would have hit my head on the pavement! It could have killed me! I should have been disfellowshipped for being out in service™. By being out in service™ I was not showing proper respect for the life and health Jehovah gave me.

  Clearly Jehovah does not support this preaching work™. Otherwise I would have had his protection.

  I have no doubt that it's possible, but I've been hearing about gasoline alternatives for most of my life. I'm still waiting to see one that becomes widely accepted. I'm sure the oil companies and the governments that collect high taxes on gasoline will find a way to stifle innovation.
