ok.... looking for some logical explainations.... my daughter, ali, who i've been posting about on the forum...who has developed congestive heart failure.... has had some spooky experiences lately in her house.
here are a few of the things that happened:.
about a month ago, ali and her son david, heard noises from the attic above ali's bedroom...that sounded like something was being dragged across the attic floor.

I've never been one to believe in the paranormal, but sometimes you have to wonder. I've been looking for a logical explanation for moved or missing items around here too. One missing item struck me as particularly odd. My sister, a devout Catholic, gave me a bottle of holy water a while back. I try to be accepting of other people's beliefs, so I accepted it without issue and put it on a shelf in my closet, and didn't give it much thought. Recently I noticed it was gone without a trace. This worried me, because I live alone and no one is ever in the house without me present. The closet is also in Rocco's room, which I keep people out of because he isn't comfortable with most people. I searched the house high and low to see if I could find it and determine if anything else was missing. Nothing else was missing, but I found a few other items in odd places.
I really doubt that someone broke in, leaving no signs of forced entry, only to steal a bottle of holy water out of my closet and leaving my computers, jewellery, and other valuables intact. Maybe I'm a sleepwalker and just don't know it.

i'm 75 years old and am confused about life and god.
all explainations seem made up by some religious person or some written book that doesn't make any sense to me.
why doesn't a god just let us know that he exist in some way that all people could understand.
If he exists, maybe it's time for him to take responsibility for his actions and clean up his mess.

my name is jaime and i'm here because my fiance recommended this site.
i am not, nor will i ever be, a jehovah's witness.
i strongly believe it is a cult, but i also am respectful of the choice people make to associate themselves within the witness "world.
You don't have to be rude, but you must be firm.
Unfortunately, rudeness is sometimes the only thing a JW will understand. Excessive politeness only encourages them. The only way I could ever get a JW to shut up and back off was by instilling a little fear. It's not something that I like to do, but I like listening to their crap even less.
I recommend drawing up some "rules of conduct" and mailing her a copy. Any violation of these non negotiable rules results in immediate ejection from your home and loss of contact with your family, the length of time to be determined by you. In these rules I would forbid any attempt to communicate religious ideas to my children. You and your fiance are not to be shunned or undermined in any way, and never to be disrespected in any way in front of the children.
Make them understand that, in regards to your family, you make the rules, and their only right is to obey quietly.
Knowing JWs, this process may have to be repeated weekly for the rest of your life, sorry to say.

my wife and i had dinner with a pioneer couple last night that we've been friends with for a long time.
they are both nice people, with the wife having a few dashes of pretentiousness mixed in.. usually when we are together, they always talk about pioneering, which makes some sense as it's the primary focus of thier lives.
however, it has gotten progressively more dominate in conversation over the last couple of years, to the point of being annoying.
When I pioneered we had to get 90 hours a month, and getting our time was always the topic of conversation. We were obscessed with it.
If your friend wants to sleep in and make cookies, why not put in only 65 hours a month? That would allow one Saturday a month for sleeping in and making cookies. (I baked cookies yesterday, and they were out of the oven in 10 minutes. It really doesn't take that long)
Of course, she wouldn't be a regular pioneer anymore if she did that. No more title and a loss of prestiege in the congregation. Unthinkable! Because that's really what pioneering is all about - title and self promotion.
If the watchtower scrapped the pioneer arrangement, how many of those people would still put in the time without the title? Very few.

since we've been directed to highlight jehovah's witness subjects on jwn, i'd like to know what things we should be talking about.. perhaps we can discuss how we were affected by the questions on the written review?.
do you have any other meaningful topics you would like to suggest so that we can keep jwn on a jw theme?.
Just like the Watchtower, you are all about the numbers.
I'm waiting to see some annual statistics published, complete with pie charts.

My bird likes to pluck out my nose hairs, which I allow, but I won't let him stick his tongue in there. I've got to draw the line somewhere.

The best part of having a BS in my house was kicking them out.

First and foremost we need to elect a Governing Body of Apostates (GBOA). They can determine the topics that are appropriate for us. They can also organize us into groups, which would make it easier to plan activities such as protests, and maybe even interventions. The GBOA can appoint elders over these groups to ensure no one spends inappropriate amounts of time or resources in non apostate activities or conversations. They can also give us timely direction on critical matters such as:
I nominate Minimus, Shamus, and Outlaw to be permenant members of the Governing Body of Apostates. Koolaid guy can be the court jester.

note the home page..wow how it has changed.. jehovah's witness discussion forumthe place to discuss anything relating to jehovah's witnesses and the watchtower bible and tract society... or just make new friends!.
many of the posts have nothing to do with with jehovah's witnesses and new ones coming on this board would be turned off by the content of many of these off color posts.
foul inappropriate language which is not proper or suitable for exiting witnesses to visibly inspect.
hi jack threads and draw attention to themselves,
Please forgive me for trying to draw attention to myself, when all of us, myself included, should be focusing our attention on you. I do repent in dust and ashes.
