I wouldn't pay $600 to see anyone. I can buy a CD for under $20 and listen to it as often as I want. To top it off, I don't have to sit in a small uncomfortable chair and tolerate thousands of annoying people around me.

i can't believe the prices of concert tickets these days.
the rolling stones is starting their tour this year in los angeles tonight and some of the floor tickets are as high as $600!!!
they were in little rock back around 2005 or 2006 and the most expensive ticket back then for their show was $300.

who should be responsible for financially supporting jehovah's witnesses, who put misguided faith in the failed 1975 "end-of-the-world" predictions, and went full-time preaching without any consideration for retirement many years later?.
kindness is an act of grace not an obligationare successful brothers ethically required to help aging moneyless sister?
toronto star.
Her brothers have become successful, and are now being asked to support their sister in retirement.
My question is, did she shun her siblings for the last 40 years because they rejected the religion?
I've heard of JWs being willing to resume contact when it's convenient for them, usually when they want money. Or maybe she doesn't necessarily want contact. Maybe she just wants a stack of post dated cheques.

i want to start by saying i will not participate in discussion here about my resignation as a moderator at jwn.. simon please consider this as my resignation from that position.. i have been posting on this board for almost 12 years.
i know some of you a lot, others a little and some not very well at all.
i have remained here for those of you who have needed support as you make the transition out of the wts, who needed someone to listen to your experiences of abuse at the hands of jehovah's witnesses, and to both laugh and cry with you as you progress out of the watchtower society.. we know that we have all experienced the cruelty of abuse of one kind or another.
As LL was a moderator, I think she should have notified Simon of her resignation before announcing it on the board. To me it looks a bit like a slap in the face. Simon deserves better than that.

while everyone has been bickering back and forth, i decided to do something positive to move forward.
as most of you know back in jan our family marked us as apostates and started shunning us.. so i wrote to all of my congress-people and told them what is going on with the jw's.
i told them how they are breaking up families, teaching the children intolerance, etc.
As someone who used to work in a legislative environment, I can say that this is most likely a form letter. That being said, I am also certain that the matter will be researched by the staff.

has anybody here experienced a bonafide, real, true incident in whicy 'demons' actually interacted with you or did something 'supernatural' that left you convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that satan and his demons exist??.
.
People will not share their stories if others constantly treat them as mentally ill .
Agreed. I came to this thread to read experiences. I'm more than capable of drawing my own conclusions without anyone's assistance. Whether I believe it or not is irrelevent, and no one's business but my own.

i believe that this site, jwn, serves many purposes.
.
some are here almost, out of need.. others are here because they want to know the latest in watchtower world.. still others come here for the entertainment.. why do you frequent this place?
I come to annoy people.

Did they rule out drug use in that case?
According to the documentary there was no sign of alcohol or drugs in their blood. A further Google search turned up a conspiracy theory about them being "programmed assasins" that tried to kill themselves when their assignment failed. Apparently, their bus driver taking them to London wouldn't let them back on the bus because of their "suspicious packages".

what is the stupidest thing a jw ever told you?
we all know that they say a lot of stupid things, but what really topped the cake?.
for me, it was an elder telling me i was progressing really well when my meeting attendance was down and my field service hours were slipping.
"It's demonic to be enslaved to any habit."
I was told this because I had a habit of biting my fingernails.

1 - reconsider your existence - there might be a reason why the most effective resources to date have been solo efforts.
2 - recognize that even well-intentioned organizations will firstly seek self-preservation.
3 - be aware that egos and emotional stupidity have torn apart much grander edifices than aawa.
I am haughty and shameful because I don't like being insulted!
Yay me!
