WSJ - Front Page - Predict End of USA by 2010 - Garbage...

i was very surprised that the wall street journal would publish this crap worthy of infowars.com.

and i was even more surprised they put it on the front page.. but it's in today's wsj - dec. 29 edition.. it's a story about a russian professor that is predicting the end of the usa by the year 2010.. he points to the fact that states will withhold support to the federal government.. they went so far as to make little diagrams on what states would go to canada and what to russia.. this one is easy though - say what you want to say - but 2010 is only a year away - and nothing is going to happen to the usa.. i'm not a flag waving redneck either - but the infrastructure of the us is too strong - too advanced.. con.

most of us came out of a christian based faith and a lot have since attached themselves to another christian based faith.

why is it that christians think they have the truth?

what makes it any different from the jw?

Christianinty like the JW faith system has inconsistencies. one big difference is the control that the JWs exercise over people. Everyone needs a community. I chose to have one apart from religion. I believe that in this way I mauntain my objectivity and freedom. But any community can help a person so long as they remember never to let their beliefs get in the way of reality.

Meetings: Are They Morons?

so, the new arrangement for meetings includes a jam-packed ministry school/service meeting and book study that ends at 8:45pm in many halls - unless they go overtime!.

these geniuses tried to create a family night because they realize witness families are falling apart so they created an awfully long meeting instead that will often take place on a thursday night - just prior to friday when countless kids have tests in school scheduled!.

good for them!

Its looks more confusing. In reality its probably less burdensome. But it underscores the stupidity of the whole thing. Why not just eliminate the book study period? Oh right...its NECESSARY spiritual food. Mind you they probably borrowed the whole idea from some foreign language groups and congregations have been doing for years.

When is the message of destruction to begin? Who is the King of the North?

My parents and I were always taught that somehow the King of the North would finally be revealed, and that also the preaching work would be fullfilled, and that we'd then have another message to spread - not of warning - but of impending destruction by Jehovah our God!! Everyone kind of looked forward to spreading this one-last message, sort of an in-your-face "We told you so!" type message. I have not heard anything about this end-time type of message in years, probably since the late 80's, early 90's.

I remember this loud and clear and kept thinking about it as I posted in the "time left is reduced" thread. I think its another paradox for the WT. They have to declare the preaching work over, or at least the ingathering portion of it to begin this "warning" message. That begins a countdown to the "great tribulation" they cannot bear to mess up. Since they are SO good at screwing up dates, chronology, and countdowns they are kind of stuck. We will be watching them and will hold their feet to the fire. So their warning message may never materialize. Another example of JWs being duped and totally assinine theology IMHO.

New "United in Worship" book leaves out chapter on blood! Why?

before baptism this was the second more doctrinal book that had to be studied.. 1980 united in worship chapter 19 "what does the mosaic law mean to you?.

chapter 20 "life and blood do you treat them as sacred?.

2002 worship the true god.

I guess it would also have allowed autologous, where you store your own blood for future use.

They made a fuss over one friggin word???? Allogeneic seems to be the only difference. Unless I missed something. Of course that would have cleared the bovine blood products. Maybe it was big after all.

Why all Christianity is repulsive to me

the crux of all christianity is that an omnipotent and loving god sent a human sacrifice to atone for the sins of a (fictional) man, knowing full well that he would be horribly tortured and mocked.

if that god existed (which i'm grateful he/she/it doesn't), i would be proud to oppose it.

there are 3 main types of christians in my opinion:.

There is a lot stuff that can't be definitively proved (like the existence of Jesus), and stuff that doesn't make logical sense (like the ransom). But the tenets of Christ as written in the Gospels, are mostly sound and make for good living. Many Christians follow them and are wonderful people. Even if they are as made up as Disney, until it all can be definitively DISproven, let's make room for them and never forget the kindness that many Christians show. Don't let the bad apples ruin your perception of the rest of them.

BTW-The same can be said for other religious points of view such as Islam, Judaism, etc.
