What are you people talking about????
That is just one idiot JW woman's comment!
But you are taking her misguided and unchristian counsel and slandering the rest of the group like they all propose such mistreatment of wives???
Shame on you for this kind of malicious gossip!
To criticize a group for its published doctrines you dont agree with is one thing.
To point to individuals errors and claim the whole group does the same is pure lies.
Admit it. Many of you have been hurt by individuals, mere humans who have not lived up to the high moral and spiritual standards that Jesus taught.
We dont criticize the son of God just because his followers fail to live up to his teachings.
We have to separate the religion of the JWs from the individual JWs in it.

Husbands! Smack your wife across the mouth!
by PopeOfEruke ingreat advice received from a close jw relative who we visited last week.
she said that husbands are the head of the family, and if the wife doesn't support him in serving jehovah then he should give her a good smack across the mouth, thats what she deserves.
if only adam had given eve a good smack across the mouth when she proposed eating the fruit, we wouldn't be in the mess we are in now!

Its very interesting to study how the mind set of this forum has changed over the years and how certain anti Bible and anti religious, anti-spiritual contributors have taken over all the discussions, even in the areas designated for sincere Bible discussion. They must "mark" on or pee over every praise of the scriptures.

Not fully applying scriptures
by XBEHERE ingalatians 6:10- really, then, as long as we have time favorable for it, let us work what is good toward all, but especially toward those related to [us] in the faith.
i was thinking this weekend with hurricane rita devastating texas and louisiana that the jw's really do take care of their own when disasters strike.
however if you clearly read that scripture in galatians it says "work what is good towards all" then it says "espcially those related to us in the faith".

At the K.H. yesterday during the closing prayer the brother prayed a lovely prayer thanking God for the hope that one day these devastating natural disasters will be a thing of the past, that all the suffering and sorrow related to them will be forgotten.
You know, the society takes care of the witnesses in the area. Not only are Kingdom Halls rebuilt but individual witness homes are repaired. The Book Study conductors are called upon to make an accounting of all in their group.
After the 89 earthquake in California my husband and I personally went to each witness home in our Book Study and made a list of repairs each needed. A crew of brothers went to work right away and repaired all the chimneys and cracks. One sister's house needed a completely new foundation! The Witness workers were sent out and a beautiful article in our local paper commended the Witnesses for being the first to rebuild on the block. And yes, neighbors contracted the brothers to help with their homes as well.
Witnesses are always thinking how they can help their neighbors. Every now and then you hear of it, but it is not widely publicized.
World Wide Work Funds are very precious and come from the brother's limited resources and paychecks.
The WBTS must be very careful to use these funds in a way that promotes true worship first.
And lastly, few on the earth want to tackle the preaching work. That is a labor of love that alot would like to dismiss. It is the exact footsteps of the son of God. Do not overly criticize the witnesses. They do take care of their own and help their neighbor when they can.

What a coincidence! I was just outside reading a 6 page article about this same subject to my husband as he is working underneath our car this Sunday night putting in a new gas tank. (Gave up on our bio-diesel idea for awhile)
I would love to hear Mr. Dylan in concert! About a week ago I happen to hear him on the radio and he really WOWWWWWWED me!! Gave me thrills and chills he was so authoritative!
What a singer and songwriter! We are certainly a privileged generation to have so much music available to us!!! -

I like the fact you can set it aside for a long time and pick it up and begin reading it again and gain alot of new insight you never were able to appreciate at the time.
For example, as a young witness woman I used to identify with Ruth.
Now as an older woman I identify with Naomi.
Interesting.
I get some new gem of understanding every time I pick up the Bible. -

What is truth?
by spectromize inah!
yes, that remark made by pilate after pilate had asked jesus wether he was a king.
( john 18:37-38 ).. how would you answer the question according to what we know from the bibles definition, and how the faithful and discreet slave have endeavored to give us spiritual food at the proper time?.

The Truth is that if you lived a thousand years or forever you'd see truth redefined constantly.
Because truth is REVEALED to humans a bit at a time.
Like it or not.

The three wise men
by Simon injust a thought.... looking through the greatest man book, something just occurred to me which i can't recall has ever been highlighted (but please correct me).. i always thought it a bit strange that jehovah allowed the three pagan astrologers to find jesus especially as they were obviously guided to him by satan's star (remember they were led to herod first who wanted to kill the messiah).
what purpose did it serve?.
well, a few pages earlier in tgm book, we see mary presenting a dove as a sin offering at the temple - this was the cheapest offering that was acceptable which must have meant that they were pretty poor at the time.. shortly after the three wise men visited the family had to flee to egypt when herod started to kill all the young boys in an attempt to kill jesus.. what would they need to travel and live as exiles for a couple of years?.

I would definitely call them. They seem like real sincere people. And they may have their doubts and trust you with their feelings. You are the one to help them.

Deep down inside, aren't we all the same?
by JH inwe all want to have success, enjoy happiness, love and good health.
so why must 99% of people be destroyed at armageddon?
why must there be victims (armageddon) in order to have a paradise?.

Thats a very loving question JH.
But dont worry about it too much.
After all, I read a post last week that said the biblical timetable for the Revelation events are off about a thousand years or something.
What a relief!
So I say dont worry about it.
