Anyone have a Kindle or a Nook?
by Simon ini really don't like the ipad (or apple) but i think an ebook reader would be nice.
nothing made by sony though .... the amazon kindle and barnes & noble nook look to be the best (esp.
with the recent price reductions) but i'd like any insight from anyone who has one.

I have a Kindle I got at the end of last year- not sure if the new ones have a back light or not but that would be my only complaint is that I wish mine did. It's easy to get books and there are tons of free ones you can download. it's very user friendly and even if you don't like Apple products if your spouse, roommate or anyone you trust enough to share with has an ipad or an iphone or anything that comes with a Kindle application, you can share books which is pretty cool. I love mine and take it with me everywhere since the battery seems to last forever.

Unless you have a really good personal reason to I don't get why you would.
In fact I had a dream last night I went back because I missed being shunned by my family- when I awoke in a sweat I was glad it was only a dream, I'd sooner saw off a limb then go back.

"The End is Closer Than You Think" came up at a party.
by RubaDub inwe were at a party (get-together in jw speak) and somehow the ones i was talking with changed the subject to a talk given by the co that "the end is closer than we think.".
i just sheepishly asked the group ... "i don't understand that phrase, "the end is closer than we think.
" i said my parents told me i would never go to school, then later that i would never graduate from high school, and that i would never get married.. then i mentioned my parents were expecting the end to be in 1975 ... my grandparents were expecting the end numerous times in the 1920's and 1930's.. so i very nicely asked, "isn't is more correct to say "the end is farther than we think?

"So I very nicely asked, "Isn't is more correct to say "the end is farther than we think? since we keep anticipating the end to come but from our human perspective it keeps getting pushed back?"
LOL, seriously it never fails to amaze me how they're always speculating on when the end will arrive when it's supposed to come as "a thief in the night".

OK lets just say for sake of arguement, armargedon comes, god wants to know why you left the JW's. What do you say to him?
by highdose insorry for the long title.. i don't belive this will happen for a second.

I would ask him why he left mankind. Back in Biblical days he always lead the way but nowdays there are so many religions, ways, and interpretations that it's impossible. I mean I would expect an Almighty God to be able to pave a path for his people that would be completely indisputable and that's not something i've ever seen. And since I've been "out" of the witnesses I haven't met too many people who are in other religions that don't believe they have the one and only true religion too.

I used to drink way too much coffee- apparently that's an American thing. I still have a cup almost every day in the morning but not everyday and don't waste it on crappy coffee. Lately Kona blend seems to be doing nicely, no sugar no cream...

Have your views on gays changed over the years?
by laverite insome questions....feel free to answer any or all of these.
have your views of gay people changed over the years?
do you have or have you ever had gay friends?

Even while I was a Dub I didn't have a condemning attitude towards them, so the org never really impacted my thinking on it much. I actually hate to hear gay-bashing.
This pretty much sums it up for me. I've always known gay and lesbian people in school though and it never seemed strange or wrong to me.

I get my favorite candies from this site: http://www.sees.com/
mmmmm they have a See's store here where I always get my chocolates at Christmas time. I've ordered online at places like Schwan's but I prefer to buy from the local Farmers market and make my own things. That way I know exactly what I'm eating. I do buy coffee and teas online.
