Take a picture of something....
by Burger Time ini thought this might be a fun thread to start up since a good majority of internet users have cell phones able to take pictures.
take a picture of something around you then post.
lets see what fun stuff we can come up with.

my real fantasy
by Hortensia inhere's my real fantasy: i'm a massage therapist and i've been giving massages and listening to massage music for 25 years.
i wish someone would create some well-thought out massage music for me and name it after me (not hortensia, maybe hortense?
or my real name?

it should be 60 minutes long, 60 beats per minute. It should be divided by a gentle crescendo or something every 15 minutes so I don't have to look at a clock. It should start out a little more lively for two or three minutes (think "Silk Road" by Kitaro) then slow down to a drifty tuneless music, like American Indian or a wandering flute or St. Saens "The Swan", gradually becoming slower and slower so the client's breath slows down. Other things that work - Gregorian chants, Enya (although she makes me ill after a while), a bit of adagio - classical music - that sort of thing. Drift and wander around down a river or out through the stars, with a little crescendo or quickening at 15 minutes then back to drifting and wandering. At the end of the fourth quarter of an hour, a little quickening, so the client wakes up, but nothing too jarring.
What a great idea makes me feel relaxed just thinking about it. My massage therapist plays those cd's that sound like the ocean and nature. Something like what you're describing sounds most relaxing and a great idea for you keeping track of the time... -

Update on Husband...
by cognac inthis is really torture sometimes.... he made a run for it from this site, went out in service for 2 days and is back into full-fledge more jw.... that totally sucks... ackkk... i wouldn't care so much if he wanted to be a jw, it's just he's always pressuring me to be it also and live my everyday life the way that he wants to me to live it.
i feel like i'm being totally controlled... .
this is not going to happen like this forever.

I'm sorry to hear that- just do what you have to do and hopefully in time he'll realize everything you see now or at least be thinking about things. My heart goes out to you, I've never been in your situation but I know it must be very difficult for you.

I was "disinvited " to my younger brothers babies shower
by sosad inbecause one of the jw invitees heard i was coming and was now part of babylon the great.
just to clarify - i am part of nothing in the religious sense- my kids and husband are very catholic but i am not.. i was invited and trying to get the address after making considerable efforts to attend due to plain old busy life.. it seems "new light" says i, a fader of over 20 years is not welcome to a gathering where jws are present.
but - not just jws - there would be many other religious denominations present in the form of aunts, grandmothers, parents etc.

I'm very sorry I know how it hurts. It's crazy they would think doing something like that is out of love. It makes me angry and it's just wrong.
My little sister had her first baby not that long ago. I was never sent pictures even though I'd asked her several times. Interestingly enough, she was fine accepting the baby gifts I'd mailed up to her. I still wouldn't know what my niece looks like, had someone they sent pictures and video clips to not forwarded them to me. -

Movies I missed growing up a witness?
by inkling inok, so a recent post about the godfather got me thinking what a massively sheltered life i had growing up, .
and all the classic r rated (or otherwise offensive to delicate jw sensibilities) movies i must have missed.. i am not easily offended now, and am open to pretty much any genre.. i have a lot of catching up to do, so i could use some help-.
what are your all time favorite movies, "inappropriate for christians" or otherwise?.

I could list ones I'd rented the past few years that I couldn't see before.
What I did though was go to the video store and get whatever older movies caught my eye that I remembered wanting to see before but couldn't.
The one movie I did see in theaters that I wasn't supposed to was Candyman- my sister took me because you had to be with someone 18 or over. It scared the crap out of me at the time plus we got busted by a witness kid who worked there, he came and asked us to see our tickets. I don't think he ever told because we never got in trouble for it. -

25 April 2007 - THANKS TO ALL!
by compound complex inyour daily journal.
dear friends,.
much of what we do on a daily basis is routine and of no particular, earth-shaking importance.

Happy 1 year Daily Journal! Here's to many more.
I'm typing from my phone because I'm reinstallingy computer so hopefully there's not too many typos as I try to write this out.
I've been ripping out carpet in my house and living in chaos for weeks now. Today I got my new tile and wood floors installed (it took 3 days for the installation). So happy to be able to put everything back together and have things somewhat normal. I've practically had no sleep the last 3 nights while everything's been being replaced. So I'm looking forward to getting my computer back up and then having a glass of wine and sleeping in my bed. It's crazy how many little things I realize I've taken for granted lately. -

I cannot wait!!! I started a thread awhile back when I first heard- I was so happy! I've been reading every update I find. I didn't watch them when they aired- I got into them later after renting the Dvd's. I'll definitely be seeing this movie opening weekend
