  Gun control logic

  the v tech shooter bought his guns legally.

  gun control laws don't stop this kind of determined killer anywhere in the world.

  the defenseless victims couldn't carry a gun legally on campus if they had one.

  I think it was Ben Elton who said there should only be one question asked to determine if you should be allowed to own a gun

  Question One: Do you want a gun?

  If your answer is Yes ....then you have failed to pass the test as people who want guns should not be allowed them.

  If your answer is No... fine.

  just a little counter arguement i have used before against belief in the flood of noah with a jw.. .

  jesus talks about the days of noah ..........therefore noah must have existed.

  tony blair, discussing child poverty, talks about oliver twist ......... therefore oliver twist must have existed.. .

  Sorry if it didn't seem clear.

  What I mean is the arguement put forward by 'brothers' and the Society is that Jesus' mentioning of Noah and the Flood is extra proof that the Flood must have happened as per JW land.

  My arguement is, just because Jesus mentions Noah it doesn't mean he believed Noah was a real person in history.

  If Tony Blair said ''' we mustn't have conditions like the days of Oliver Twist for our children '', it doesn't follow that Mr Blair believes Oliver Twist was a real person anymore than his audience would. But the audience would know what point he was trying to get across. ( which is more than can be said for me lol)

  hi all, especially the scholars amongst you ;)a .

  i was listening to richard dawkin's talk at lynchburg va and he was tlaking about how horrible the god of the old testament was- and he mentioned this: .

  that when jeptha's daughter came out (and jeptha had promised god he'd sacrifice the first thing out of his house) that he had to sacrifice her as a burnt offering.

  Shunning Letter Help Required

  local elder's daughter was disfellowhipped recently and failed to get reinstated.

  now she's left home as she couldn't put up with the shunning from family and friends.. i want to send a letter to the elder father with some wt quotes for him to ponder on .

  my favourite is w52 11/15 pp703-4 which basically says 'we'd kill 'em if we could get away with it'.

  Local elder's daughter was disfellowhipped recently and failed to get reinstated. Now she's left home as she couldn't put up with the shunning from family and friends.

  I want to send a letter to the elder father with some WT quotes for him to ponder on . My favourite is w52 11/15 pp703-4 which basically says 'We'd kill 'em if we could get away with it'. However I'd like to contrast it with the w74 8/1 pp471-2 which seems to imply the elders can't poke their noses in to family situations.

  Can anybody give some other quotes from WT or Bible to contrast with their hardline approach?

  not sure if it applies to the recent canada sextuplets.. forgive my ignorance but doesn't the husband have to masturbate to produce the sperm which is a no-no in jw land?.

  i know a 'sister' who is over the moon that her daughter (non jw) has finally conceived after trying for over 10 years.
