this must have been mentioned before,but now reniaa is back it could be fun.. if jw's are even part way to the truth,and all other religions are false, then they must have a doctrine that is unique to them,given by holy spirit, but plainly taught in the bible,without resorting to fancifull exegesis and bouncing around from verse to verse out of context etc.. what is that doctrine?.

i spoke to an elderly sister, 94, who is deteriorating rapidly.

she honestly believed she would never die.. obviously she is desperate to deny to herself that the cult she allowed to steal her one and only life a second at a time is still true.. "the generation change is just like 1975 - we were sifted.

we were being tested as to who was serving jehovah for a date and those with unbreakable trust in the organisation he has appointed.".

Another way to describe those JW's suffering from 'cognitive dissonance'

is

LIARS.

Somehow 'cognitive dissonance' sounds a nicer way to describe that 95 year old 'sister' or even your own mother.

Who wants to describe their parents as liars? My mother would be appalled.

However, if the written evidence written by the WT Society was presented to that 95 year old showing the predictions about 1975 , 1914, the genaration, pyramids etc etc etc, and she still denied it, then I would have to call her nothing but a liar.

Sometimes I think JW's have to be shocked into seeing the reality of the WT organization.

In a conversation with a brother about our mutual beliefs since I left the 'Truth', I told him I thought he was brainwashed. Just like I had been brainwashed. It was said in a calm non agggressive manner and he took it rather well. Eventually I am convinced he will leave too.

My sister called! I've written her a letter...

i was working in corpus christi this past weekend, when my sister called out of the blue on sunday.

she, like the rest of my family, is a very zealous jw, and since i am recognized as an apostate, i haven't seen nor spoken to her in about four years.

i was completely shocked that she called.

It's not a very nice thing to have to say about your parents, aunts, uncles and older ones in the congregation who maybe were part of this group but unfortunately it is the inescapable truth.

That kindly older sister in her 80's? She's a LIAR.

That mild tempered brother suffering from athritis and a weak heart? A LIAR.

My opinion of older JW's is diminshing rapidly.

The girl is permananently disfigured.

It may be an option to have the judge raped in the same manner as the victim and then ask the judge what he thinks the sentence should then be.

An old dub 'friend' writes to ask 'What Happened?'

i got an email from an old friend from my jw days.. our families were close for several years before they moved to another state.

afterwards we kept in touch by phone and visited each others homes a few times.

before we left dubdom in 2003, we had seen them just once in several years.

My friend Veen, a fellow poster here, has been asked this by his former Witness 'friends'.

His answer is, I think, the best I've heard:

''I don't think you want to know''

If they ask why........

''Because if I tell you, you'll want to leave too''

That way you haven't given them any information at all but will force them to confront whether they really want to know. Most won't.

As regards other posters advice on only speaking face to face I whole heartedly agree. Nothing in writing or by phone.

As regards face to face, if someone asks then I am convinced the only way is to tell them straight as I feel a moral obligation to tell them.

But only if they have responded to the Veen reply of course.

Thank you Blondie for your hard work in posting this yet again.

I've always wondered about the shepherd's motives. Surely one of the main purposes of keeping sheep was to use them as sacrifices at the temple. Or to use their skins for clothing. Or for eating.

I would not be too keen on a modern day intensive battery hen farmer being used as an example of a loving carer.
