I think when I first found this place I was posting like a fiend. I pop in once or twice a day now to look for threads that make me think and hopefully re-evaluate myself. I miss thought provoking threads from Terry. GBL is MIA even though I think he reads w/o commenting. I don't see much of Damselfly or Diamondblue. Another poster missing with her former regularity is Ingenuous. I think that in some ways we grow out of posting so much. I know I have.

This is going to sound sick but.... It doesn't matter how much you weigh. It matters how good you look naked. If you like the way you look in the mirror, that's all that really matters. A scale cannot define body fat for you. Take a body fat analysis and take another six weeks later. That will be a more accurate measurement. Secondarily, make sure your diet reflects your dedication. For myself, I've found that diet makes about 85% of the entire battle. What you are doing is awesome! Good luck with it. It sounds like your attitude will see you through completely.

Cliff Burton era Metallica, Slipknot, Tori Amos, Pantera, Bjork, John Coltrane, Tool, Notorious BIG, N.W.A, Mudvayne, Ghetto Pony, Motorhead, etc. I just love music. One of the first songs I learned to play on bass was Fur Elise.

If raised JW - or in while young - how strict were your parents?
by Jamelle ini'm just curious to know where my parents register on the scale of strictness...
growing up, i felt absolutely smothered by my parents (mostly my mother).
the things i couldn't do were above and beyond the limitations put on the other young people in our hall.

Street work
by pratt1 in.
maybe this only happens in urban neighborhoods but when i was growing up, many dubs engaged in street work, basically offering the magazines to people on the street as they walked to a destination.. usually it was an area with a lot of foot traffic at a time when many people would travel the area.. did you or people in your congo engage in this and were there any funny stories relating to this practice?

We had many various forms, some more embarassing than others. I hated what one "sister" called drive-by witnessing. She would drive the streets of my small town until she saw someone walking on the side of the road. She'd pull up next to them and offer literature. I couldn't stand the idea of it. I told her that if this was my old neighborhood in L.A., she'd be pulling shells out of her pioneer-mobile.
I found in street work that we were like the police: At our post for a few hours and then predictably at the donut shop. I had some really good times in service. The best converstations were in Spanish. I learned and grew so much from those. People were more humble and willing to talk. From the perspective of ignorance and bliss, those were some of the best times of my life. The Metrolink station with the morning commuters from 5-8:45. Door to door from 9:30 to 12:30. Calls aka return visits until 3:30. I loved it! So much wasted time.

What to do when life starts over
by destroyedbyhate inhave any of you ever thought that you would be with somone forever in a paradise earth?
then you realize that it was all a bunch of lies.
you slowly watch the marriage you had dissentgrate before your eyes.. you want desperately to fix it, but you are being pulled in too many directions.

destroyed by hate, consumed by fear, let the bodies hit the floor
right?
Push forward.
There are so many dreams yet to be fulfilled, but getting past the lonliness and sadness is hard. Part of you wishes you could turn back the clock and fix it, but the other part longs to be free and live life for yourself for once. Big changes are there for the taking. Will it all be OK? I don't know. Wise men have said that time will heal all wounds. But I feel like I have been broken, and I'm not sure if I can fix it. Everything I touch I screw up. You just want somone there to tell you it will all be alright, but you stare blankly at the computer screen in front of you. Being alone is scarier then I thought. But at the same time it is exciting. I am so confused.
I too have spent time wondering in the grand what if. The problem with that for me is neglecting the present. I think you had it right with the comment about the many dreams that need to be fulfilled. What I've learned about my voices both negative and positive is that they must be fed.(hungry little bastards) Truly, feed the ones that need feeding and let starve those that poison you.
It will be alright. Feed that voice. If you can't hear it, there are those here that will repeat it for you and forcibly beat it into you until you choose to realize the truth of the words. Ya gots friends.

Weird Dream.
by RichieRich inplease allow me to preface the following by saying, i'm not a dreamer.
i do have aspirations, and those kinds of dreams, but i don't really have literal dreams.
occasionally, my sleep is permeated by the thought of a beautiful young woman, or a big ole pickup sitting in my driveway.

No. Not weird. Dreams are the subconcious puke of what the concious minds stomach cannot digest. You are okay. Normal. Simply preparing yourself for the inevitable. You know what you are. You know what the organization is. The two minds are not congruent.

My looming question is "Who celebrates them?" When watching CNN or any other interview program the person being interviewed has to qualify themselves as an expert on whatever field they care commenting on. Even people whose identity is being protected qualify themselves. When "in" I was firmly convinced that these "scholars" had been qualified. "Why would they lie to me?" "This is Jehovah's organization. Surely he would ensure that these ones have his spirit" "Our translation of the bible is superior" This is the mindset we wrestle against when talking to family, when rescuing people that seemed trapped under ice.
