Going out with a bang
by LittleToe inafter much deliberation, i decided to go "out" at the end of a public talk.
it didn't go down too well, but at least i was able to give some of my reasons for leaving.. i've put some of the details on my homepage.

GUESS WHAT HAPPENED TO ME TODAY!
by Butters ini cannot believe what i saw happen today at the store.. i was at wal-mart browsing various electronics and digital cameras and such, when i heard behind me, "brother hardy, how are you!"...
first thing i thought was oh shit, they found me, and forgot my real name, or have me mixed up with someone else.. turns out, this disfellowshiped witness was there at the store and saw one of his congregation members there.
now i personally have never been part of the shunning process myself, but here i am, an ex-jw watching from the other aisle, a bunch of shit that i never thought i would see the lights of day on.... the brother, this "hardy" i guess, looked up at the man with a smile, but then when he realized who it was, he immediately frowned and started pushing his shopping cart away looking straight ahead and not even acknowledging the man... (here's where i jump in..).

", by stating that our purpose it is to serve the creator... but, what is the purpose of the creator himself?
must we not apply the same criteria to the creator as we do to ourselves?

here is the problem with that... The JW's think that because of the door being narrow and few being the ones finding it that this is good news. Just like they think that a streaming to Mt. Zion is a good thing. They paint on both sides of the line for this very reason. They'll just twist it to be a good thing

HAS ANYONE WATCHED WANDA SYKES NEW ROUTINE?
by juni inmy daughter told me about her first hbo routine on 10/14/06.. i didn't see it and had never heard of her before.
my daughter is going to tape the show for me.. she said it was very funny!.

i love wanda, but her new special was not her best work. there were some super honest, very cool parts but not a lot of fall down laughter. the fall down laughter came with the Katt Williams special. THAT was hilarious

Circuit Overseer Visit

by Fleur inwhy is it that i have known for so long what to expect of my jw relatives, and they continue to exceed my expectations for crazy-making behavior, yet still sometimes, i am blindsided by a comment so out of left field, so removed from the way that i see my world and the way that i live my life (or try to)...why does it still hurt?.
i have posted before about my sisters.

you are a great writer. I felt every bit of that with you and I bleed with you. Being in the shadow of another person and then pushed back into that shadow when you try to assert your individuality has to hurt so much. Be proud of the woman you are now. Your husband obviously is and if I had to ask you in a moment of clarity I'd say you were also proud of that woman. I'm unsure of what else to say. Know that you will be in my thoughts and that you have the support of a family here. I don't know what color your eyes are, but I'm proud of you. :D

I'm new and nervous!
