for anyone who may have noted my happy news of about a week ago, the bubble burst after roughly 48 hours.

after the 90% successful "let's agree to act like intelligent adults and respect the other's conscience" talk with my dad, he wrote a letter and renegged on everything.

i am once again a hard-headed, ungrateful apostate.. i'm as tired of writing about the situation as you probably are reading about it, so i won't go into too many details.

So I mailed out letters today...

They are surprisingly upbeat about it all. My brother called me unexpectedly on Saturday night after his Circuit Assembly. He is on the road to my mothers/grandmothers approval by his impending baptism and in such a position has taken over the responsibility of raising my treasured nephew. In this "good space" he has extended the invitation of living with him. That was surprising to say the least.

My best friend who remains inside has expressed curiosity at my baiting him regarding the UN and 607. I told him that my belief was that he'd read the material, file it away in his mind and invoke, "Whom are we to go away to? You have the sayings of everlasting life." Funny how whom is not Jesus, but the organization. What should I do with him? How should I respond to the inevitable landslide of emotions that my letter will produce?

i think witness often confuse the subject of "organized" or "order" with human concepts of these words.

for instance a forest might look highly random in it's placement of trees.

on the other hand, the trees are placed according to very hard and certain rules that decide where a tree can receive enough water, light, and nutrients to survive.

I have always even from a young child had a problem with the condemnatory nature of Jehovah's Witnesses in the context of others doing the work of community service or charitable assistance. I hate how preaching is seen as the higher moral ground as if preaching solves all social ills.

Wait, wait, I feel a rant comming on. Spiritual paradise? WTF?!? It never felt like paradise in the kingdom hall with the clichishness or the nepotism. Aren't liars supposed to have a portion in the lake of fire? Why did you just lie to me? Shouldn't you burst into flames? Okay sorry. We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread.

Thanks for posting these, both A and B. I needed this. I have a close friend who is still in, barely. This will be the push he needs. He is still clinging to new light and such. I mentioned NGO to him casually to see what he'd do with the information. He asked someone who was newly reinstated if they'd heard anything about it. They told him that it was a scam cooked up by the apostates and that there was no truth to it. I told him that I'd send him the scans. I think I will include your list of questions in there too.

What's the big deal about a Circuit Overseer visit?

according to the son of my newly baptised jw friends, they re-decorating their house for a visit and 'inspection' by the circuit overseer.

can anyone explain what the circuit overseer's visit is all about?

does he or she normally visit the homes of people in the congregation?

I saw the CO as my friend when he'd visit. I'd arrange to go on return visits with the group that had him. Then I'd bend his ear. Several times one overseer in particular told me, "Tell me the climate of the congregation, Dominick. I'm tired of getting my ass kissed and I need some honesty." Mind you I was a teenager, but I saw this as at least an attempt at honesty, at helping the group. That made me happy.

to give you some quick details, my ex-wife and her two sisters were repeatedly raped and molested for years by their jw father.

we went to the elders, and as you probably know, nothing ever really happened to him, all he got was privately reproved.

well,...fast forward,, i remarried and have a wonderfull wife who is also an ex-jw.

I had a worldly girlfriend in High School who was molested by her natural father at the age of 3. Fast forward, her mother marries another charmer who would come into her room at night and force himself on her. This went on for years and was finally reported. This man spent time in prison. When he got out, guess where he went to live? Correct, sir. He went to live in the same house. Her mother demands that she refer to him as "Dad". I get nauseated at thininking about it. Way to go Mrs. Apostanator.
