  i remember several dubs getting all into the satan being santa thing (yes adults too) mixing around the letters to make satan from santas name.. ever see this?.

  I think it is a bit mean. There is no need to be mean like that

  Maybe it is mean, in the same way that shunning someone who you have known for years because he no longer shares your belief is mean, or not dealing with a child abuser in the comgregation because he's a baptised male and his victim is only a little girl. That's mean as well, don't you agree?

  My avatar is a pic of Harpo Marx, who I have long thought bears some resemblance to the now late Carey Barber. I am a fan of the Marx Brothers as well.

  I have used the name dedpoet for years on the internet. I am a poetry fan, both reading and writing it, and my all-time favourite poet is T S Eliot, who is a dead poet.

  what a rollercoaster the last couple of days has been.

  having been prompted gently and lovingly by husband 'besty' i have examined my faith, sorry the organisation, and finally realised that he has been right all along in his reservations.

  i feel all sorts of emotions, mainly happiness at finally feeling free - no more meetings (i never could see why we had to attend 3 a week and always felt stressed about taking the babies along when they should be in bed!

  Hi sweet pea, welcome to the forum and to fredom.

  As others have said, it is possible that you will lose many of your jw friends, and you also may be labelled an apostate.

  Actually, being labelled thus isn't as bad as the watchtower makes it out to be. The dictionary definition of an apostate shows it to be merely someone who has abandoned a previously-held religious or even political belief, which makes many jws apostates, as many have left other religions to become jws.

  I get called an apostate by jws quite often via email, and tend to respond in kind. It's really nothing to worry about

  I am so sorry for the loss of your Aunt. You have every right to be angry about the way the news was kept from you until it was too late for you to attend her funeral, and to be given this a a "reason"

  I couldn’t take a chance on you showing up and the family would wonder how you found out.

  She should be ashamed of herself, putting the opinion of a book publishing company pretending to be a religion ahead of what should be regarded as a family duty. In the circumstances, your reply shows a great deal of restraint.
