to many, the notion that churches in "christendom" could be zealous - in contrast to the indifference of the watchtower society -.
might seem radical.
however, there is a recent, powerful example concerning marriage and divorce.. .
Marriage is tough no way around that. But money does not equate with a happy marriage. Also most who divorce are not Witnesses and most bad parents aren't Witnesses either. I'm not defending the Witnesses just trying to inject some objectivity here.

yesterday, may 15, 2006, gyldendal publishing company in copenhagen, denmark, published an expose' about the religion of jehovah's witnesses.
the name of the new book is, "dommedag ma vente," or, in english, "judgment day must wait," written by poul bregninge of denmark.

Your love for the brotherhood comes through loud and clear. I deeply appreciated reading your account of life in Bethel. It provided the rare balanced view we sorely need. It was good to hear that there were brothers in positions of responsibility who were trying to make positive adjustments. So often the view here is one of negativity and to be sure there is much in the Watchtower to be negative about but the fact that there are some in positions of responsibility who do want change is a positive. It was so good to read about that because after all if the entire JW brotherhood is to be helped somehow it is through change and through those there who want that change.

why does james 2:21 say that abraham was justified by works and yet romans 4:2 says that he was justified by faith?
also genesis 15:6 says he was justified by faith?

Faith without works is dead, Abraham's faith was demonstrated by his works. Similar to a parent who says they love their child, that love is demonstrated by their actions. So too faith and works are coupled. Abraham had both faith and works.

Crap! A pack of smokes, a few different boyfriends and work in a bar hardly constitutes a profligate untamed lifestyle in this day and age. OT is exercising wisdom in letting her find and set her own limits after a repressed childhood and adolescence.
A "repressed childhood and adolescence", as you put it, is just the circumstance that requires some good advice and guidance from a mature friend. As for the "crap" that is your opinion and I'll take it as such.

Now, I don't agree with all her choices, but they are her choices and would NEVER tell her what to do in helping to direct her at her young age of 19.
Your young friend has more problems than just a stupid grandmother, imo. She does need some advice and guidance. If you as her friend will not give it who will?

In today's New York Times there was a story of an 18 year old young woman in Darfur. She and others were taking wood and other commodities to a nearby town to sell. On the way back they were attacked by the murderers and rapists that snake around their country. This young woman was raped along with other women. Her father had already been killed by these murderers and her mother was previously injured.
Her fate? She will and must continue to collect and sell firewood in nearby towns so that she and her mother will survive.
Yes, courage comes in many forms. As JWs and exJWs we have needed courage but I think it's good to remember there are those in the world whose lives are also devastated and who nontheless must continue on.
As for me, I have no courage only determination.

If that letter is genuine it is a sad day for many at Bethel though they may not say it outright. Many gave up a lot to go to Bethel and for those who hoped to make Bethel their life's work I'm sure this whole thing is very disappointing.
