  i have a question.

  i know of a couple that were both jws and the husband was dissatisfied with the organization and wanted out.

  is it possible for a marriage like this to function?

  Here is a paragraph directly from the Watchtower library:

  What, though, if one of the parents is disfellowshipped? Should the Christian parent make the child available for visitation? The disfellowshipping process of the congregation only alters the spiritual relationship between the individual and the Christian congregation. In fact, it severs the spiritual bonds. But the parent-child relationship remains intact. The custodial parent must respect the disfellowshipped parent's visitation rights. However, if the noncustodial parent poses an imminent and substantial threat to the child's physical or emotional welfare, then the court (not the custodial parent) may arrange to have visitation with the child supervised by a third party.

  Hi, i was actually married to an elder and were disfellowshipped and we divorced... The elders during my judical case were actually concerned that my husband had not been a good husband, but that went no-where.

  Anyway we had shared custody and i have weekend access and the congregation has never tried from what i can tell to stop that, i am their mother and alwasy will be no matter what they say or try to do, hope this helps to answer your question.

  i really hate jw hypocrisy.

  i love my mom but i am sick and tired of the hypocrisy from her and my family.

  last summer on august 10th a day before my sons 3rd birthday i recieved package from my jw family wrapped in cute gift paper.

  When i was a dub we used to have what we called gift giving day in our house, we would buy presents and wrap them up, we usually chose to do this on an anniversary, because we felt bad that our kids were missing out on the fun of unwrapping gifts, i remember as a witness child how i felt left out when the other kids in the street were bragging about their xmas gifts, and how we would have it drummed into us that our parents loved us all year round and thats why we got things through the year and not just on special times, looking back now i feel so guilty that my children missed out on the small excitements that kids have to look forward such as xmas and birthdays.

  Watchtower & Sex

  do you think that witnesses in general have a good sex life?

  with all the pressure they have to produce and assist meetings, they have less time left on their hands for other things, like sex.

  asked to be spiritual, reading the bible, talking about god and angels, takes their mind off sex.

  Interesting topic, I think that sexuality and the jw's has always been and always will be a touchy subject, on one hand they are very upfront with sex education, they advise parents to be very upfront with educating their children with what is right and wrong, and they even go to the point of interfering with the normal sex relations in a marriage, what i find very hypocritical though is the way they cover over child molestion, suddenly they have a sexual issue that they dont know how to deal with so they leave it alone, except when it is done by another religous group, lets say the catholics, when i was a dub i can remember how many times they would speak about this issue in the watchtower or even in the talks showing how unchristian these religions are because of their bad fruits. Now the shoe is on the other foot and dare we say they are showing their true works by covering up these trangessions by fellow members. All i can say is shame on the society for being so vocal about what a husband and wife can do under their own roofs, and in the same breathe allowing by not speaking up, molesters to prey on the innocent children.

  JWs and the Amish

  this morning's paper had an article on the amish [nothing in depth, just about how they sell their wares at local markets] but it brought to mind the ideas of the amish - they want no part of the world, they don't like to call attention to themselves, don't baptize little children, and they shun those who leave the faith.

  i was just wondering if anyone here could shed some light on how jws view the amish.

  Interesting topic, my husband has now observed a little of what the jws are like because of my ex and my children, his comment to me is it reminds him of the amish people how they keep seperate and stuff, my comment is that jws are hypocritical in these respect of really keeping seperate from the world, if it was so important then they would have their own communitys and not need to go "out into the world", why would you place children, teenagers in fact into a world where everything glitters and shines and them tell them that they cant have any of it, why not have a jw school, so they are not tempted to do the world ways of the other kids. If they really want to be seperate then maybe they should live like the amish.

  Ever lie on your service reports?

  did anybody out there lie on their service reports that they maintained the 'national average' when in reality you got .005 hours of service in any given month?

  i magically always used to always get "10" hours out in service, while nobody ever saw me at the groups, no one ever caught on, or seemed not to -- maybe they just didn't give a shit.. i always lied so i could keep my microphone 'privelidges' -- that being, the privelidge to walk around at the back of the hall giving my deflated ass a break from those awful chairs they had.

  Hmmm, well i guess like a few here i never really lied about my hours or placements, after all"jehovah" sees everything we do, i did however round up. but always subtracted that from next month.... What used to make me laugh though was a brother who believed if he started preaching at say 9.15 and finished at 11.15 counted that as three hours, 9,10,11, see three, lol.
