i know people who don't say their real age, like take off 2 or 3 years.... my mom looks younger than her age, so she sometimes took off a few years.

gee, i'm just the opposite, i rather say my real age, and wait for a compliment saying "hey you look good for your age".

how about you, do you ever lie on your age?

My birthday is Thursday.... Happy birthday to me!!! No one will celebrate it, though.... ...... And yes, I tell the truth about my age, even though I am starting to feel all those years adding up.... I look younger than I am, I am told...

they come to our doors telling us that we can live in paradise knowing that the wtbts tells them that even the jw's aren't assured of a place in the new system.

Blood - A Balanced View??

i think that rather than being completely anti-blood or completely accepting of doctor's decisions it is much better to remain guarded with regard to blood transfusions.

although i recently rescinded my no blood amd, i want to find a way to document that although i will accept blood, my preference is to first work with plasma expanders and the like.

today a friend of mine died.

I recently shredded my 'No Blood' card (it was over 4 years old, so it's not like I've cared to keep it up to date...) In case of extreme emergency, I don't want that in my wallet. But I would prefer treatment without blood if at all possible.

i had the opportunity to have lunch with an old jw friend of mine recently.

it was quite surreal.

i have forgotten the absolute depression and control they feel.. whereas i am happily yacking away about the improvements in my life, college, job, etc... happy marriage, going on vacation ... blah blah blah.. she says how she's still married but unhappily but she is waiting on the 'new system' and sorta chatters on about how 'bad' this system is getting, etc.

It's much easier to just plod along with the rest of them and listen and be 'obedient' but it's much more difficult to question things, make up your own mind, and actually ACT on it.

Absolutely. Especially when the consequences of acting are so severe as they are in the WT.

I also tend to feel that the JW's constant focusing on the 'horrible' state of the world and how terrible all worldly people are, is bad for one's mental health. Constant negativity is never a good thing, and imputing bad motives to the rest of the world constantly has got to do something to one's mind, imho.
