1984 WT cover, 1914 Gen That Will Not Pass -- How many of 16 alive today?

those people on that cover were supposed to represent a group of people that would still live on into the new order.

in your best guess, how old were most of those 16 people at the time the photo was taken, and how many do you suppose are still alive today?.

remember, that wt was printed in 1984, nearly 27 years ago.

"Daily Text" App for Android phones??!?

i was just scrolling through my husband's cell phone to see if he has any new and exciting apps and lo and behold.... he has a "daily text" app!!!

choose it, and up pops the text for the day, followed by the commentary.

good grief!

Why doesn't the Elder's Book give any instructions about Armageddon?

it does mention what to do in the case of a disaster, but there are no specific instructions for the big a. what's a brother to do?.

I always remember being told that the Book Study was so important because that's where we would get information when the "persecution" started... like, where the next meeting would be, how to hide our literature, how to go in service "secretly", and other important stuff.

Now that the Book Study arrangement has been moved out of private homes, you'd think they'd really need some way to get their secret info out to the flock!

Sorry this is happening to you skeeter, dealing with an aging parent is hard under the best of circumstances.

Lots of good points here! I agree that your dad is not talking TO you with his correspondence, he's talking AT you. So I think that it's safe to say that if you totally ignore anything he sends having to do with religion, you won't hurt his feelings.

You don't want to cut him off, so what if you send all his emails to a special folder (which you can ignore), and simply reply - each time he contacts you - with the latest news from your life? Maybe he'll enjoy hearing about you, and maybe not, but you'd be keeping in touch while avoiding the infuriating preaching.

Finding him a hobby sounds ideal, if that's possible.

my nutbag is still intact but it's a tough road to please others in order to keep a family.

really tough.. i'm glad this place is still here as it's a haven for you ex-es and a means to help others to see that when man (governing body) is a mediator between christ and oneself, it becomes a cult.. .
