GUILT SHAME GUILT SHAME GUILT SHAME GUILT SHAME GUILT SHAME
That's what it's all about.
My husband's been away from the meetings (due to a combination of factors) for 2 weeks. He's turned into a different person before my eyes. Unfortunately he's back there today, he'll be guilted and shamed and stressed out again in no time.
Thanks for the review, Blondie! It's great, as usual!

List of family/friends lost to the Watchtower cult? (suicides)
by hubert inafter reading about puternuts (ari) suicide, and also reading about sabine and js losing their daughter to this cult, i think it would be a fitting memorial, so to speak, to write a list of all the people we know who died because of this cult.
i also know that cruzanheart lost her dad to it, too.
i'm sure there are many here that can make a list of suicides brought on by the shunning/threatening policies of the watchtower cult.

Depressed JW man with a history of mental illness asks for help many times, from elders, as well as from doctors (I believe). One day, he is home alone, and calls 911 and tells them to send a squad car because he is going to kill his family. Before the police arrive, his young daughter comes home from school. He shoots her. She was 9 or 10 years old.
He is now in prision for life. Despite having a history of mental illness and having the presence of mind to call for help, he was DF'd.
The child's school has set up a memorial garden in her name.

FREEDOMLOVER: update with my dad
by freedomlover inhope you are all well.. if you have been following the soap-opera of my life and the letter i wrote my dad then you may be interested in the latest.. my dad has been here visiting and we had a good long talk yesterday about my letter and what has brought me to the decision to leave the org.
he listened to everything i had to say and agreed with everything i had to say.
his own doubts arose when he became an elder and got a clearer picture of the abusive tactics that are used on the sheep.

freedomlover, I'm so happy that things went like this with your dad!! Everything's falling into place, huh? Great job!
I'm sorry about the mess with your best friend. Do the damage control, go to the wedding, and have fun. Try not to worry about confrontations. (Easier said than done!) No matter what, you have your family, and now your dad, on your side. You'll be just great.

This may be my last postÂ…so goodbye and thanks
by seven006 ini never thought i would do one of those infamous goodbye i cant take this board anymore posts where the person shows up again a week later and looks like an idiot.
when i had enough of this board and needed a little break i would just quietly leave for a few months and hopefully nobody noticed.
that is not the case this time.

Dave, I'm so sorry for what you're going through. Take care of yourself, ok? And drop back in when you feel up to it, so we don't miss you so much....
Your posts have been so helpful to me, I echo the sentiments of so many others here, I know, but I wanted to say how much your direct and wise words helped get me out of the JW fog when I first started frequenting this site. Now, too.
You have a pm.

Which Bible do you use?
by snobirobi inhello everyone, i've been lurking for quite a while now and am enjoying my time on this forum.
i wasn't born or raised a jw, but married into it....sorta.
my husband was raised a jw, never baptized, and became inactive once married.

Welcome to the forum, snobirobi!!
I use the NKJV, and online versions. I've never had a Bible with the 'red lettering', and I love it!
Once I stopped using the NWT, it was like I was reading the bible for the first time. New light..... LOL!

Before or after?
by flag ini'm curious, when you made your decision to leave the org.
did you do it before or after looking at this kind of internet sites?.
in my case i made my decision without ever looking any of this websites.

I knew long before I left that it wasn't the truth. Even after I left, I wouldn't let myself go online and read 'apostate' websites. It took years before I did, but once I did, I was immediately convinced that I wasn't losing my mind, and I had been right all along. I've never looked back.
