Anybody else have this announced? Special Meeting on Friday night

all baptized brothers asked to come to special meeting friday (tomorrow) at 7pm.

bring the new organized book.. don't know what this is all about.

judging from past experience, a whole lot of something about nothing..... .

I remember a comment an elder made to me a few years back. We were helping my father-in-law roof his house, we all sat down to have a couple of beers and were talking..... The conversation drifted to young people in the truth, and he remarked about how many were leaving. He said something about how the elders had to stem the flow of young ones out, otherwise there wouldn't be anyone left to carry on the "work". It makes me laugh now.

I think they're scared people. The entire District Convention schedule dwelt on follow the elders and the slave. Apostate rhetoric is heating up again. They're realing back the higher education gambit. They've come out with stronger language about associating with DFed family members. And now more special meetings for brothers?

They're numbers are stangnating, people are leaving in droves.

It's a sinking ship.

"Conscience" matters

so just how things does the wts call a matter of conscience and in the next breath condemn.. as far back as i can recall jws were told that certain things were conscience matters.

they they would go into some long detailed description of instances in the bible where such-and-such a practice was condemned.

they would add in stories of how things went terribly wrong when some people actually did the suspect action.

The legalism of the WTS, the unbending rules and regulations, both written and unwritten, the judging of people for made up "sins" (like the length of someone's hair, having a beard, the length of a skirt, having a 2-door car) is nothing more than a form of modern-day Judaism.

I couldn't agree more. The WTS has become a modern day "pharasee class." Their judicial commitees a recreation of the Jewish Sanhedrin. That which they hold up as detestable, they emulate. By their actions they condem themselves.

I have no doubt that if Jesus where here today he would throw them from the "temple".

Lady lee, I am a witness an to be honest with you I feel EVERYTHING is a conscience matter, when it comes to our service to God and discipleship of Jesus. It is up to us as individuals to TRAIN our conscience right so we make right choices.

Wow what a perfect example of JW "double speak." Training our consciences so we make right choices. Which means programming our minds to make choices approved by the WTS. Which means that nothing is really a conscience matter, everything is to be decided according with WTS teaching and tradition.

They create the illusion of personal freedom and decision, but in reality the control of the WTS is ever present. Just below the surface it lurks.

The dubya is controlled, and does not even realize it. What a perfect scheme, it's facinating to observe it from outside. I can't believe I was controlled for so long.

Ah yes, the ole' guilt trip the brothers into reaching out meeting. I've been to several of those myself. I always felt like crap afterwards. They usually result in inspiring some of the bros to cut back hours at work, putting their families in financial peril, so that they can devote more time in reaching out (sucking up). The last one I went to was very inspirational. One of my peers quit his job in sales and started his own business, finishing drywall. Within two months he went from being the party boy, to the elders darling. Oh yeah, and he was also trying to hook up with an elders daughter, who wouldn't give him the time of day. That is until he started "reaching out." Everything worked out great for them, he's almost an elder and she's fat. A true "blessing from Jah!"

its been my opinion that when responcibility for the war on terror gets turned over to the u.n. they will in time conclude (with god's help) that 'religion' is the main problem and has to be eliminated.. what do you think?

Its been my opinion that when responcibility for the War On Terror gets turned over to the U.N. they will in time conclude (with God's help) that 'religion' is the main problem and has to be eliminated.

Once the UN realizes this obvious fact, they will utilize it to their own benefit. Much like the food for oil scam they perpetuated. Instead of destroying religion, they will scam religion. Skimming profits from oil sales is nothing when compared to the fast funds available in religous coffers.

I personaly feel that the whole "religion is the root of evil" teaching of the WTS is one of the few things they got right. The problem is that the GB is arrogant enough to believe they are not included in the mess. They are. The problem with most religions, is that they force intelligent people to surrender their own free will to the whims of the few. Religion causes the rational to grow irrational, the sane to perform insane acts. As such it is dangerous.

HELP!!!!!

my 8-year-old son asked me yesterday if i liked going to the kh.

i told him "no, not really.

" he said that he doesn't really like to go all the time either, but we have to go if we want to get into paradise.. i allow him to go to the kh with my parents when he wants to because he does like to go.

You need to expose him to other faiths now, so that when he's old enough to decide about religion, he can make an informed decision. An 8 year old doesn't have the ability to decide which faith he'll follow. That's what the JW's want though. Get them young and program them. His entire world is becoming JW colored. Your parents are instilling all the JW fears and phobias in him.

I think you should pull him now and deprogram him. If you want to expose him to God and faith, then do so. But, the KH is only exposing him to the cult mentality.

WT Against Higher Education...Again

the october 1, 2005 watchtower slams higher education in a 5 page analysis on why it is better to pioneer than go to college.

i recieved this wt today and i was shocked by the statements in there.

i can fax a copy to anyone who wants it.

This is really all about them being afraid of educated people. So they want to convince you that higher education is no good for you. The reality is that it is no good for THEM.

So true! Higher education is a danger to the WTS. We can't have the brothers thinking outside the box, now can we?

Clarification needed about US education system

clarification needed about us education system and watchtower policy :-.

we used to be slightly puzzled by some articles printed in the publications such as "young people ask - should i go to school?".

because in england and most of the uk, school is most definately compolsory and enforcable by law up to age 16.. further education beyond age 16 is never refered to as "school" except jokingly.

- The reality is, a young person will encounter just as many challenges to their "faith" while undergoing on the job training, as they will encounter at university.
e.g Hard drinking workmates, pornography on open display, loose women (anything I haven't missed here?)
I know - been there and done that!

Totally agree. I myself went through trade school as my brother headed off to college. We were exposed to the same things. Just goes to show how out of touch with reality the GB is. What would you expect from a group of guys who think beards and jeans on women are wrong?

Yet another flip-flop on the part of the WTS.

I was sitting in class today ( I actually took a 4 hour Saturday morning class) thinking about how sad the JW college situation is. In the "truth" we are trained to be perfect students. The Ministry School trains us well in English Comp, communication, and public speaking. Our note taking and info retention skills are perfected at Assemblies and Conventions. Yet the WTS denies it's members the full use of these skills.

That's the only benefit I've achieved from my life in the organization, good student skills.
