Well the memorial finished an hour ago in Sydney, where is my wife?
by jwfacts inthis is the first year i have not attended the memorial ever.
so i am sitting at home watching prison break, oh and surfing the net.
my wife and daughter went, which i was happy about, as now everyone in the hall will notice my absence and know i am an apostate, and was not just d/f for some petty crime.

Something I want to tell you apostates part II
by LeftBehind into those that remember me i came here to tell you something.what i want to tell you is that you guys were right.
i have been researching the wt since i briefly posted on this board and i have come to the conclusion that the wt is nothing but a man made organization.
i have been researching the wt non stop since december.

Congratulations LeftBehind, when the shackels start to fall off your mind life seems much more pleasant. Don't ever give that freedom away. The power the elders hold will seem less and less each day. Eventually, they will seem comical to you, like little children tugging at your pant legs. The only one you need to worry about pleasing is Jesus Christ, Christianity really is that simple.

Ray Franz---A Man We Owe Our Thanks To
by minimus ini've been thinking of how all of our lives have changed from learning about this religion and getting out.
probably no one has done more to help us understand the truth about "the truth" than raymond franz.
of course there were others that questioned dates, prophecies and dogma but it was ray franz that revolutionized the organization.

I agree. Thank you Ray! May God continue to bless you and your family.

Need a rebutal to elders!!!!!!!!!
by beaches inlet me preface this by saying i wanted to fade quietly........ i went to the mall and my husband called me on my cell to let me know 2 elders had stopped by (sun after mtg).
he told them that we had some questions and were looking into things.
they of course asked "like what kind of things".

It is true that there are humans on earth, therefore wouldn't it be logical to conclude that humans also exist on the sun? After all, the earth does go around the sun which means that anything on the earth must also be on the sun.
Now that is a brilliant example of Watchtower logic.

It's time to jump ship. Look for a new job in Dallas, or tell your boss you have a standing job offer and he needs to match it.

This is a poor explanation of the facts, and I apologize. Check the www.freeminds.com site. There you'll find a treasure trove of information. I'd advise printing off as much as you can about each topic you want to discuss, and arranging it in individual folders according to subject. You'll have to do it in such a way as to erase your source, don't leave a website url or link on your printouts. You have to force them to face the information, not the source. Their greatest ploy is to discredit your information by assuming it's apostasy.
Force them out of their comfort zone, don't let them jump from point to point. Make them fully discuss each bit of information, without quickly switching lines of reasoning.

If there was a "Union" in each congregation............
by JH inif there was a "union" in each congregation to protect the witnesses from the watchtower ,that would be nice.. you could negotiate certain things, like number of meetings a week, and hours in the field service.. .
what would you like to see negotiated?
unionized brothers "local 21" .
-

As a union member I can attest that the Watchtower's rigid rule system resembles a union. However, within a union there is room for dissent, and if you don't like the way things are you can attempt to overthrow the ruling body.
I volunteer for honorary steward of JW local 453.

Do you honestly think the Witness religion will end?
by free2beme ini know that people here make comments about the religion having problems and growth not being anything other then children born into the faith and third world countries.
i even see them make comments about, "how much longer can this go on?
" yet honestly, do you really think the witness religion will end in our life time?

The largest appeal of the JW's is also their biggest problem, and that is the seeming instant gratification they offer. Jehovah's Witnesses are not in it for the long haul. New adherants join because they believe they will have paradise any day now. The Watchtower offers people what they cannot have in this system: a fine home, good health, and peace. If you trace the rise and fall of JW members, you will notice that it parallels world conditions, i.e. when the economy is crappy, JW's do well; when the economy is good, membership slacks off.Up till now, the Society has been able hide it's flawed past, while presenting itself as infallible. With the advent of global access to the internet, the Watchtower's strict control of information to it's members is slipping. Perhaps this will eventually lead to their downfall, but I doubt it. If there is one common thread throughout history, it is the stupidity and gullibility of mankind. When desperate enough, we are willing to suspend our common sense and logical reasoning in exchange for a hope of better days. That is the root of JW psychology, and it is why cults like them will always be with mankind.

Anyone ever been moved from one congo to another?
by MinisterAmos ini'm pretty sure it wasn't a personal thing, just that they needed more publishers to start the "new" congregation, but about a year ago i got tapped to move from one congo to another.
i also suspect that they were planning on soliciting loans from wealthier brothers (like me) to finance the hall construction.. a little background; i had been active and happy for almost two years in a congo about 20-30 minutes to the east of my home and had set up work and appointments for myself and family to take advantage of the fact that i would be in that particular neighborhood on those days and nights.
the usual like doctors, schools, day-care etc.
