kind of tempted to see it but.... any other recommendations?
we are ready for a movie in a theatre..
I saw Basterds last week. It was a good movie, but not what I suspected. The previews lead yoy to believe it's all Brad Pitt and a band of soldiers exacting revenge.....it's not. If you've seen the previews then you've seen just about all the action in the movie.
The rest is French subtitles.
But still a good movie.
the more i read the comments made by jw who still "believe" in the doctrines of the wt the more i see that they are in denial.
first off they debate on a board they are not even supposed to be on, they are going directly against the gb counsel.
when they debate they do not give the actual wt doctrine as an example they give their own personal opinion, their own interpretation a watered down version of the doctrine to make it look better, less aggressive.
Angel Eyes, I just want to commend you for your caring attitude! You're one of the good ones, the ones that I miss.

he understands that witnesses can't marry or date non witnesses.
but i guess could say we've been stalling...looking for a solution a gray area to that black and white situation...but with time getting as it is...stalling doesn't work anymore.
When I was in high school art class we could paint whatever we wanted. I did a painting that seemed on the surface like a Salvador Dali-type thing. It was a red rose against a black background with a clock overhead and a splash of blood on the ground. The clock meant "the world" was running out of time. The red rose represented the forbidden love of a non-JW. The blood represented the death of those killed at Armageddon. It was black because the whole idea was depressing.
That sounds like a really cool painting JP. I'd like to see a pic of that.

If you have traded pictures and the avatar did not scare him away, then perhaps you should give him about 10 or 12 years to grow up.

wow, i have had my degree for just over a year now.
i have been working closely with a career counselor for the past 6 months and have submitted lots of applications and resumes to dozens and dozens of companies for a long list of potential positions i would like to have.
i worked hard as an almost 50 fading jw to get my college education and since i can no longer climb poles in windy-sub-zero-weather to fix people's cable i locked myself into network administration.
Man that sucks! I'm afraid it's only gonna get worse.
Can I ask.....
Where did you go to school? What kind of degree do you have? Do you think you're the victim of ageism?

her kidnapper kept her hidden for 18+ years, had 2 kids with her, and was picked up handing out religious literature at a college.
now, it surfaces that he has ties with the jehovah's witnesses.

Good for you! I think the same thing when I look at my nieces and nephews. It makes me so happy to think of them living full lives away from the WT's lies.

If he doesn't convert, he dies? I can't live with knowing that....
Do you really believe that? Obviously this guy has some good qualities or you wouldn't love him, right? If you, in your human imperfection, can see the good in him, how much more can Jehovah see that? Is it really logical to assume an all loving heavenly Father would kill someone over a denominational affiliation?
It's at this point that I always think of the parable of the prodigal son, remember that? Remember the LOVE the father felt for his wayward son? Was there ANYTHING he could have done and not found forgiveness?
i'm thinking of a big pig sticker for general household use.
