i've completely stopped taking part in any jw activities for close to a year now and will be visiting my jw family for the next couple of weeks.
they have no idea that i have become "apostate".
for all they know i am still an active jw.
Hi WTT, I wish you luck buddy, some close family members and I are faders, and I know exactly what you mean, it is really hard to keep shut about what we know, especially if you have really zealous family members whose every other word is Jehovah - If Jehovah allows, thanks to Jehovah etc, UGHHH - it can get irritating.
I've already stuck my foot in my mouth on occasion, so be very careful, just think to yourself "Theocratic warfare strategy" and you will be ok.

i watched dr. phil yesterday, where they were highlighting the disappearance of natalee holloway who disappeared in aruba over 5 months ago, and amy bradley who vanished from a cruise ship 7 years ago.
i always assumed that these girls were raped and then murdered and they very likely could be, but the program highlighted the sex-slave trade that is growing in leaps and bounds all over the world.
i sat there and listened in shock as one guy revealed what happens to some of these girls during snuff movies.
You know? it's not that I sit and overly worry about something bad happening to my family and no I don't watch Oprah, although I think she's pretty kool, but, I would like to take some self defense classes, and I want to take shooting lessons, I figure, hey might as well, just in case I'm ever faced with that predicament.
I just want to empower myself and not just mentally, enough of this Jehovah will protect us CRAP, I want to be feel capable of protecting my family if need be.

This morning I was considering going to the meeting, because I haven't been, in a few weeks, and I've got to show up once in a while (fader you know), but in reviewing the CRAP that is being served today, I decided HELL NO, I CAN'T GO!
The GB, WTS Service Dept., and Writing Dept. should really sit their pompous asses down and read their own damn article, it might help them to see themselves for what they really are...oh wait..... they already know.
How people keep buying this BS, is beyond me, instead of attracting more people to the meetings they are shooting themselves in the foot, don't you people know that you can attract more bees with honey, than with vinegar? oh wait, no, I take that back, keep serving vinegar, I heard that bees subconciously really dig that!

Yes we do, we take this time to talk to the kids ask about their day, share jokes, talk about goals we have as a family also we discuss the new things we learn in our newfound religious freedom, sometimes since we can see the TV from the dining room we might watch some interesting History channel special, and discuss that. We also like to watch The George Lopez show, among others.
We try to do this as often as possible, it gives children a sense of structure and gives us a chance to see what's going on in their heads, that we might need to address.

this is a movement which has been growing slowly but steadily among young people in spanish and portuguese speaking congregations in the united states.
basically it is a movement created by winesses who believe in much of the teachings of the organization, but do not believe in the authority of the wts, or any other body.
they also do not believe in disfellowshiping, and believe that every decision should be a personal conscience matter.
RealNewLight, welcome to the board, I think what you all are doing is wonderfull, just don't get caught, my close family and I are still attending meetings here and there, but no longer believe in the WTS teachings. We have lifelong wonderful freinds in this, and family members and this is what we want to avoid losing. Attending the meetings is getting tough now, I have to fight hard to not just walk out, from all the mindnumbing garbage the WTS is printing lately in the Magazines.
