My realizations about the lying came after my decision to leave. I left due to the emotional death that it inflicted on me, without fully grasping intellectually what exactly had happened until after I sat and talked it out with others that had been through it. I just knew that I had to get out because it was literally killing me. The full impact and scope of it came later.
But the one thing that I always had the most trouble with, when it came to disconnecting the logic centers of my brain in order to swallow the bs arguments, was the contention that the Bible was the inspired word of God because 2 Timothy 3:16, a scripture in the Bible, said so.

The main thiings that made you grasp the WTS fraud.
by greendawn inwhat were the main things that made you realise the wts is a fraudulent organisation the real aim of which is to conceal important truths from its members while cleverly manipulating them to work for its interests?
they have secrets that they do not reveal to the r&f.
for me it was the way the gb treated the other "anointed" as non entities in the org, it made me realise that they are power lusting self serving wolves with fred franz being the classic example.

Right, so this is just me picking nits, or maybe it's irony being wasted on me(and my 39% idiocy level), but you'd think they could at least use proper grammar and spelling while telling me I'm a retard.

Maybe George Benson and Prince can jazz up the songs for the next book.
If Prince and Larry Graham redid the songbook, I might consider popping in every now and again just to hear song 171 with funky guitar and slap bass. That song could have a killer bassline. -

The congregation I grew up had like five or six sisters, and one brother(gasp!), that would play the piano at meetings. I used to get excited when either of two sisters would play, because they would not necessarily embellish, but they played with such emotion. Our congregation held out for a while after most halls had switched over to the boring-ass recorded shite, but once we finally did, I remember losing a lot of the enjoyment that I got from singing at the meetings.
One of the quickest ways to find out if somebody you know used to be a witness is to hum a few bars from a kingdom song and see if their ears perk up.

So, why did I meet with the elders?
by lola28 inthis is my explanation as to why i met with the elders today.
when i agreed to meet with the elders last week i had made up my mind to just go in and be honest with them.
i was going to tell the elders that i no longer believed this to be the truth, and then i was just going to walk away.

I can totally understand why you did it exactly the way that you did. I believe that there is a difference between the elder body/organization as a whole and the individuals in it who are actually doing what they believe to be right. If I could go in and tell the elders that I know to shove their little legalistic manuals where the sun doesn't shine and not have to worry about the fallout and subsequent passive agression that would be visited on my family, I would do it in a heartbeat. But that's not the reality of my situation, or yours from the sound of it. So as it sits, I have absolutely no problem lying to a bunch of clueless, lying bastards in order to prevent the truth from being used maliciously against myself and those that I care about.
well done,

"Illustration: anyone can touch a musical instrument; much different from using or playing an instrument."
Well, I guess I must agree with them on at least that one point.

Cleaning the Kingdom Hall

was it the bathrooms, the main hall, library or lunch room perhaps...did people use cleaning the hall as an excuse to get self-righteous?

I liked vaccuuming the stage when I was a kid, because someone always told us to get off it if we were on the stage after meeting any other time. It felt like I was breaking a rule and getting away with it. I remember pretending like I was singing *gasp* non-kingdom songs in to the mic once or twice, too. That didn't go over so well.

That's really good, Terry. I can tell you spent a lot of time perfecting the interplay between melodies, submelodies and harmonies throughout the track. Excellent piece of music.
