...and when I checked in, 50 other people had had to open this post to find out what amicus curiae meant, although they had never before in their life heard this phrase!

Being Mislead and Deceived
by individuals wife ini think these quotes give a good insight into the minds of the societys publication writers - they are misleading people and are so deceitful and they know it.
its no wonder the org.
do not want you to read anything except for society books, if the jws did then they would be caught out.... taken from the book 'the jehovahs witnesses' by doug harris - if you read this doug - brilliant book!

More evidence that it's a deeply apostate cult! The Borg do everything in their power to de-deify Jesus and minimise the power of his message - a one-to-one relationship with God.
This dual morality of theirs really struck me as a Jdub kid. Whilst you wouldn't dream of deceiving or taking advantage of a fellow Jdub, all the rules were suspended when it came to dealing with worldly people. My father, an elder, would appropriate reams of paper etc from work as though it didn't count as stealing, but remained scrupulously honest in his dealings with other dubs. 'Christian' behaviour stopped at the door of the KH and didn't extend to the wider community. It's like they feel entitled to do what they want to screw whatever they want out of the 'evil old system', even if it involves clearly unChristian behaviour.
I can't begin to imagine the arrogance it takes to deliberately mess with the message of the Bible by adding words and taking liberties with punctuation.

Signs Of Imminent Departure?
by Englishman inback in the 70's, when i was df'd for associating with other df'd people, a lot of us recently df'd ones met up for a mini apostofest at sandy balls in the new forest.. we had a great time, lots of barbies, lots of wine, lots of folk songs by bob dylan, tom paxton and harvey andrews.
we could all strum a few chords too.
her ladyship could bring me to tears with her rendition of cat steven's father and son.. there were also some other common factors besides the folk singing and wine drinking.

Nothing as cool as you, but then I was DF'd at 15. Signs I showed were smoking, drinking, vandalising, wearing make-up and flying into blind rages. Oh, and playing very loud music, which along with punk and New Wave included Bob Dylan and Cat Stevens, so there's a definite folky link going on here!

I Dream of the Apostate Rocks Cafe
by Mindchild ini had the weirdest dream last night.... it started with me taking a taxi ride in some city i had never been in before and i kept seeing these billboards which were all black and white and saying: dont go there!
i asked the taxi driver what that was all about and he told me that this was the watchtower society telling everyone not to go to the apostate rocks cafe.. anyway, i told him to immediately take me there and i just cant believe all the people surrounding this place.
there are like thousands and thousands of people wanting to get inside.

Hey, Skipper, I was there, too, but you didn't see me coz I'd had too much beer and was chucking up in the toilets. I love your imagination and, ahem, independent thought. Keep on subverting, honey!

Well done that lady! I think your comment about not letting anyone tell you what you can and can't read is the sort of thought that can sink in and take hold. You have to keep it simple with them, don't you?
I had the same experience of grinning madly and having to supress giggles last time I got a couple of oddly dressed ladies brandishing magazines on my doorstep. Managed to get across the point that isn't it great that Jesus came so we could have a direct relationship with God rather than relying on humans to interpret His word for us, and how sinister it is that religions have arisen out of Jesus's simple message and seek to 'interpret' scripture for us, telling us we can't understand it on our own. :-)
Also said I had a problem with any religion that afforded inferior status to women, when Jesus clearly treated them as equals, and they even headed congregations in the first century. Said I didn't like titles either - vicar, priest, elder, whatever - as we are all equal before God. Tee hee hee. Haven't seen them since, though. Can't imagine why...

Question for any Bible Believer????????
by JT into any bible believer- how would you answer this question- .
below is how jw answer it:.
is it really any wonder that evil and suffering exist?.

This question always did my head in and I couldn't accept that it was 'all our fault' either, particularly where innocents are concerned. Best book I've ever read on the subject is The Problem of Pain by C S Lewis. You don't have to be a Christian and take a leap of faith to understand Lewis's writing - he was a brilliant scholar and Christian apologist, making his arguments clearly and honestly. And I'm someone who spent years being furious with God for permitting things to be the way they are. Give it a read and see what you think, I'd be interested to hear the viewpoints of someone who read the book and still felt the same way.

Sister orders me to cooperate with shunning

Standing ovation! You did brilliantly! I know how much it hurts when you get this idiotic behaviour from loved family members, but I'm so glad you've got the rest of your family behind you. Funny how all the scriptural precedents about Christian behaviour and the fruits of the Spirit go flying out the window when Watchtower doctrine dictates otherwise. I'd like to think I would have behaved with the same maturity and dignity as you, but somehow I doubt it. Shine on in His light, lady!

Has anyone heard this about Bethel?
by Mindchild inplease tell me if i'm wrong about this.
if i'm not, i'm actually pretty shocked.... we all remember reading in the bible how israel once became rampant with sacred prostitution and the worship of phallic images.
although there is evidence that these phallic idols were widespread, it is difficult to realize just how ubiquitous they were because of the way the texts were translated.

Way to go Skipper! I love your line in research. Always knew the Jdubs were a load of old cock - I give up, everyone else has already done the dicks 'n' pricks jokes! It's amazing how many 'signs' point to the Borg as something distinctly ungodly, whether or not you believe in a God. Uncannily so...

Frightened That JW's May Be Right?
by Englishman inis the wtbts qualified to run your life for you?
lets take a look.. i was just musing over the threads that relate to disciplining children by means of physical punishment.
there is plenty of material in the societies magazines that advocate hitting children, in the 60s publications there is even a picture of a man spanking a child.

Nice bit of logical reasoning, thanks for that. I for one would not buy a used car from the WTBTS.
