  AlmostAtheist is right. No one's saying that a religious motive is bad. What is being said is that the far majority of ID supporters do so because of religous belief, but then deny that their motivation is religious. They're attempting to make ID mainstream by watering down their theological motivation and make it look like they're entering the scientific realm.

  Most ID supporters will then steer interested parties to the Bible for their explanation as to what exactly the "intelligent" in intelligent design stands for. Heck, it might be ETs, it might be the flying spaghetti monster. That's where the problem comes in. Which designer do you choose when teaching intelligent design? I can argue that I created the universe and no one can disprove it.

  The original article from Nate makes the point that those christians who support ID but then deny that religion is the motivating factor are in fact bad christians because they are denying their own religion. If they truly love Christ, why are they denying him?

  I agree 100%. In practice, it sounds tantamount to denying Christ.

  Amount of Magazines Wasted

  i wanted to figure out approximately how many magazines are thrown into the trash (for one year).

  i got some almost useless statistics from jw-media.org to work with.

  the statistics are for the year 2004. watchtower printing = (approx) 26.4 million.

  i got to thinking about this and for me anyway, they would have to come clean on at least the following things:.

  an honest retraction must be made on all the ridiculous chronology (of course including the false prophecies).

  by this i mean, stop this psuedo numerology stuff of adding up this or that date, adding on x many years, etc.

  it is a little interview regarding the act of disfellowshiping and reinstatement.

  what i found quite interesting is the quote from a young woman who was reinstated, and its similarity to stockholm syndrome.

  if we take the 70 years of captivity, plus 1914, we get 1984. then we use the people equal hours rule and apply it to the 144,000, using division, and we get 6,000. then we use the hours equal years rule to divide 6,000 by 360 to get 16.66 additional years, add that to 1984, and we get the year 2000 for armageddon!

In fact, other than the True Christians, everyone else roaming all the lands of the Earth is a demon, direct from Satan the Devil! Just look around you and realize - everyone who’s not a True Christian is a demon. They will attempt to corrupt you, your children, your home and everything around you. Throw out all worldly possessions, stop talking to all the demons, and grow your own food. Jesus’ reign as king has begun. We just need to wait in our basements for the final appearance to occur.   The Watchtower's Unbalanced View of the Internet

  in articles concerning the internet, some of which have been titled "a balanced view of the internet", the watchtower devotes the first paragraph or two to the benefits that the internet offers and has provided.

  then for the rest of the article they go on and on about the dangers and evils of the internet.. they have been consistent in writing in this manner in all the articles they have written concerning the internet.. can the watchtower itself truly be said to have a "balanced" view of the internet?.
