I completely relate, free2beme! I like to travel and I have friend that I've gone on a few international trips with. He's good to travel with because he isn't whiney and he has a sense of what's going on around him, but I always end up planning what we do each day and getting him motivated to get out of bed, etc. I find most people are like that. I tend to get irritated when people can't get going or have trouble deciding what they want to do, either on a trip or in daily life. I like to plan ahead. Not that I don't procrastinate, but I at least have a plan.

I love the Omen, I think it's a great classic movie. I have mixed feelings about it being re-made, since the original is so good. But, of course, I'll see it on release day (6/6/06).

It sucks, because they show up when you least expect it (kinda like Armageddon, right?). I was hung over a couple of sundays ago and they knocked on my door. I wasn't on my game, so I couldn't give them any clear-minded crap. Dammit!

This might sound cheesy, but when I was running I would think of the kids (guys younger than me) storming the beach at Normandy in WWII and how completely hellish that must have been. I figured that if they could do that, against all odds, I could finish the damn race. The cheering spectators helped too!
There were about 11,000 runners for both the 25K and the 5K - a huge crowd. It was great!

Do you not see, Do you not hear, Are you asleep?
by jw ino timothy, guard what is laid up in trust with you, turning away from the empty speeches that violate what is holy and from the contradictions of the falsely called knowledge.
21 for making a show of such [knowledge] some have deviated from the faith.

Have any of you noted on interveiws with people wuth near death experiences , they claim they saw the angel of light.
That is proof enough for me that Satan aka beelzebub does exist.
Did you know that doctors can induce the exact same experience as a near death experience by applying electrical current to specific regions of the brain? NDE's are just neurons firing when the brain begins to lose oxygen.

Please don't take offence at this ...
by Joe Grundy ini'm not a jw, never have been, and in no danger of becoming one.. having read several of the wt mags and publications (and many more extracts on this and other sites) they come across to me as being very patronising in tone and full of pseudo-scholarship, misquoted (or unnamed) sources, references taken out of context, mis-translations, etc.
i'm aware of jw 'teaching' on the subject of higher education for its members (i.e.
not a good or necessary thing) so i can understand why many jws raised in it may not challenge the publications.

Stalin - As for the magz being written in simpleton language, don't you think it is because they have to write to a wide audience. ; They run the risk of isolating a large group of their readers, it is not just the US and England that they write for. ; There are 3rd world countries that are booming with JWs because they want something, anything, that will promise them a better life to come. ; They don't want to isolate those readers. ;
They say that's the reason, but in reality they couldn't make their literature more intellectual because their arguments do not stand up to sound logic. Try reading a catechism from just about any other church and it's far more intelligent and logical. JW catechism, if you can call it that, depends on the reader's unwillingness or inability to apply the tenants of logic.
Their "dumbing-down" of literature, packed with farcical illustrations, would likely turn off more people that it is intended to appeal to. I take one look at it and can't possibly take it seriously.
