EX-NJ-JW, he indicated that he's just hanging on for his wife and uses the excuse that he's "ill" so not able to go to meetings or service. However, he looked fine to me and we enjoyed some drinks together.

Anything interseting thing he mentioned, he was a 1975er. He remenbers feel that it was his fault he thought the end would come and not the WTS now, he feel's like he was mis-lead.

Getting thoughs calls are the worst, I got two calls last night from elders asking while I did not go to meetings and that my ex-wife mentioned I'm growing a beard. I felt like crap after I spoke with them so I kknow I have to cut them off. You should try to do the same. Hang in there!!!!!!

When I asked his why he stopped being a CO he mentioned three things. 1. Committese meeting should not be done. He does not beleieve in having committee meetings and feels like they are a popularity contest and we should not judge. 2. The ministry, does not see the point in it since most JW's don't know the bible and they are fake. 3. He know this is a cult and he feels like he's wasted so much time. WOW, it was really interesting talking with him.

True story, I was on a business having a late lunch and Rachel Ray and her TV Producer walked in. They were scouting locations for her “$40 a day” show. I went over and said “hello” and she could not have been nicer. I mentioned that I travel for work all the time and I always visit her web-site for recommendations and where to eat. We ended up talked for about half and hour and had a beer together.

Lack of gatherings means the congregation only exists in the Kingdom Hall
by truthseeker inthis is the situation with my congregation and i wonder if it is the same with yours.. as many of you know, the watchtower is not known for organising social gatherings of any kind for relaxation or enjoyment.. many of us only come into contact with witnesses while going to meetings and going out on field service.. as soon as you leave the hall, the congregation ceases to exist, in my mind anyway.. when you go back to the hall, the congregation exists, but only for the time you are there.. think about it - you spend 2 hours sitting and perhaps 10 minutes talking during each meeting.
if you have no friends in the hall that you see on a regular basis, then you feel like you're on your own until the next meeting.. .
my point is this: for those who still go but are not invited out anywhere, particularly if they are fading, do you feel that the congregation only exists in the kingdom hall?

I used to try to get basketball games organized and arrange trips to the movies and sporting events but the "wise" Elders shut me down and suggested I encourage the "friends to go out in field service". I still go to meeting and have a few friends over to BBQ and a few cold beers but I don't tell anybody.

Personal Ethics of XJWs
by NanaR inwhile reading on jwd last night and this morning, i was reminded of a situation that i had with my husband when i told him i was not ever going back to the kingdom hall (this happened in october 2006 so relatively recently).
this statement should not have come as a great surprise to him, as he knows that i now belong to the american legion auxiliary (in fact i am the local unit president), that i vote, and that i helped convince our daughter to have a blood transfusion that may have saved her life.
also i had told him in the past that he should not set up any meetings for me with the elders as i would not talk to them.. in spite of his knowledge of my present activities, his reaction to my "never going back" statement was severe.

Most XJWs I know have great personel Ethics. 99% of the people I inteact with are not JW and they have good ethics. I don't think being a JW gives you better ethics, it's all about how you where raised and the example of your parents.
