a world without god
by teejay init was five or six years ago that it dawned on me... .
... the realization of what the world would be like if enough people finally figured out that there was no god.... no virtual santa claus that was checking on them (us) 24/7 and waiting at our life's end with blissful rewards or everlasting penalties.
i figured that if even a handful of people figured that out as i had, we'd be in deep doo-doo.. now... i don't care much for religion.

Mine happens to be a belief in God, as manifested by his design of the world around us.
Danny, how do you account for all the violence in nature? Since "god" designed a world with so much violence among animals, apparently he designed a world with violence among humans. If people want to worship such a god that's fine, but I don't understand why you worshippers of "god" have such a superior attitude. I think people who to decide not to worship a god of violence have a little more insight.

Prisons are filled with people who believe in god. I know many atheists who are honest good hearted people. Use your brain.

Is the bible God's Word?
by WTLies inthe watchtower once believed that if a woman did not scream while being raped, then she was guilty of fornication.
she was 'in on' her own rape, thus she too is just as guilty as her rapist.
i don't think there is a person in this forum today, who does not find this reasoning repugnant and archaic.

No, I don't wonder. I know it's a pile of crap.

I believe that most people believe in god because there're conditioned from a young age to do so. As to what they believe about god most people go along with the crowd. It's now stylish to believe that god has no specific requirements other than believing he/she/it exists, so that's what most people believe.

I hated it. Especially asking questions. If I just kept talking sometimes they'd listen. If the circuit overseer was with me he'd say you need to ask questions so you can get the househoulder involved. If I did they'd usually use the opening to say they weren't interested. My goal was to get thru the topic for conversation. If I did that I felt I'd accomplished something.
I remember one circuit overseer saying at the meeting for service that if you didn't enjoy service there was something wrong. I knew there was something wrong. It just took me a while to figure out it wasn't me.

Why did I really leave?
by tdogg inso i was working alone the other day and my mind wandered back into the past.
there are things that we do that we do not understand untill years later.
i read about the heroic efforts some make to leave the jw's and i read about the noble reasons that many have for leaving.

I left for the same reason, only I'm gay. I've told lot's of people I'm really glad I'm gay, because if I weren't I may still be a djub. Of course, after leaving I found out that there are many other reasons I should have left long before I did. -
