  How Long....

  when i look back on my years as a jw, i cant believe how i accepted so many of their teachings without proof.

  as i think about it now, i sometimes really feel like a dumb ass.

  i was watching a video of our ministry school from a few years ago and there is no way in hell i could sit and listen to that bull anymore.. when they say the faithful slave, my stomach turns.

  Is God just teasing us?

  ok yesterday i was talking to my dad (moe's thread reminded me) he said something about how bad satan was...and said, yeah but "wasn't it eve and adam's fault?

  i mean yeah satan laid out the sales pitch but they could have said no.

  you know gone home, talked it over with god, it wasn't even that high pressured a sales pitch.

  Rem, I think everyone agrees God created time.

  Not true. There are many people who don't even believe there is a god. As has been asked before with no answer forthcomeing from believers, who created god?

  Dad is gone

  my dad passed away at the hospital today after a lengthy illness.

  he was 84 years old.

  some of the folks here have known for awhile that he had been ill, and they have been very supportive.

  Jack, I'm envious of you even though you're suffering. My dad was killed when I was a year old, so I have none of the wonderful memories you have. To make matters worse my mother was a devout jdub.

  This doesn't mean I don't symthasize with your loss. Take care.

  WT goofie phrases.

  i used to get into trouble for making light of the these phrases that some elders have told me are to be used only gods people.

  lol that you all may know maybe:.

  "well, brother that is very "commendable," just before the meeting ends the po says to those in attendance "brothers the time left is reduced," i once heard a co say to those seated during one of his talks "well now, we don't want to die at armageddon now do we, well of course not.

  In Spanish speaking countries the djubs have their own goofie phrases. If you ask someone how they are, they're apt to say: "Fine thanks to Jehovah." Ugh

  has anybody got any hard evidence that asking for something, through prayer, actually gives them what they were asking for?.

  jesus promised to give anything to them that asked.

  Since the jdubs say being homosexual is so terrible I prayed to be straight. Since that didn't work I prayed for god to make it bearable to pretend to be straight. That didn't work so I leff the jdubs. "Use your mind and you will find that nothing fails like prayer."

  All the time I was a Jdub I didn't get it either. Many years ago I told my now xwife that I didn't understand the ransom sacrifice. One day we were talking to elder about something else and she ask him how one would explain the RS to someone, without telling him it was me that didn't understand it. His answer was that you'd have to be pretty stupid not to understand it.

  The jdubs always said the JC suffered so much, but it seems to me it'd be easier to remain steadfast if you're perfect. Besides that they say that when he was baptized he remembered his past life in heaven. That would make it all the easier such he'd understand
  "the big picture," as understood by the jdobs, of course.

  shunners in hospital

  what noidea is going thru got me to thinking what i'd do if one of my family members who shuns me, that's most of them, were really sick and in the hospital.

  several years ago my daughter was really sick and in the hospital.

  i didn't go see her and i've often wondered whether i did the right thing.
