at the 1994 district convention in bismark, north dakota, (could possibly have been 93) my sister wrote a note to her friend and tossed it in the garbage.

the note contained a discussion about going to boy's hotel rooms after the sessions ended, and other troublesome activities, including lying to the parents about what my sister and her friend were doing.. presumably, an attendant found this note in the garbage and turned it into the elders.

on the last talk of the last day of the convention, the note was read out loud to the entire audience, along with the warning that "whoever you are, we will find you.

Remember, the "we'll get you" mentality, while very real, is not the kind of image that they would want to have shown in as public a forum as an assembly anyway.

So What Tipped You Out, Then?

can you remember that distinct moment in your life when you suddenly knew that your time as a jw was truly over?.

for me, that moment came several years after the removal of my privileges in the congregation when i admitted to having known my then fiance in a way that was not fitting for a ministerial servant.. i was quickly stripped of my 2 servants jobs, group study conducting, pioneer status, public talk giving and praying in the kh.

i was also forbidden to ever be alone with the lady concerned.. about 15 months later i was assigned a public talk, after 30 minutes i dried up.

For me it was two things. One was when I had to seriously consider the blood issue. When my daughter was around 2, (this is in 1982) she was diagnosed with a blood disorder (which has since gotten better), which COULD, under some circumstances, require a transfusion. I was faced with the realization that her life could some day depend upon her receiving blood if needed. I knew then that her life would of course come first - and that there was no way that I would not do whatever was needed for her well-being.

The other was a seemingly insignificant event. I happened upon a magazine that was doing an article about evolution, and it was talking about the ways in which creationists present some rather flimsy evidence to support their views. This article had a quote from the society's evolution book as an example. In the excerpt, the book was quoting some scientist who was saying something to the effect of "Evolution has not been proven," but the actual quote in context was quite different, and more along the lines of; "There are those who may say 'Evolution has not been proven', but they are not correct" These were not the exact words, but it was to that effect. Still, the society took a quote completely out of context and made it appear as though it said quite the opposite of what it did. They assumed that none of their readers would ever go to the original source and check for themselves. This incensed me as it was not an honest mistake, instead it was a deliberate attempt to mislead and was nothing short of bald-faced lying. That was a significant turning point for me.

some of the kings of the earth and their supporters are aware of what the bible book of revelation says concerning the time of the end and their destruction for not having acknowledge jehovah's rulership and sovereignty, also they have failed to acknowledge jesus as king of kings and lord of lords in subject to the great king jehovah god.. the scriptures have put satan's system on notice but few take notice.

they prefer to live like the days of noah.

Good point, Trevor. I always wondered why God was always described as being so insecure in the first place. Who was he worried about losing respect in front of, anyway? And just what does he stand to gain by anyone's "worship"?

NO, NO, NO.....Not the "SCUBA Diver in a tree story again" That is a classic urban legend which NEVER happened. Dozens of varients around, dating back to the 1980's; all of them just as untrue.

Newbie With Questions

hi, i just found this board yesterday.. i have a question or two.. for one i am sorry if this is not where i should post this.. if it is not please direct me where to go .. 1st question... is this for current witnesses or ex witnesses?

i havent been to the kingdom hall for almost 2 years.. i was directed here by someone who said it was for ex witnesses.. but the front page looks like it is for witnesses to have bible studies.. and such.. which is not what i am looking for i did that for 14 years.. till i got married had 2 kids and finally got a life now at the age of 24.

2nd... can you tell me which board on here a newbie like me can post their experinces and such.

This is an ideal place for you to post your experiences and meet others who have had similar experiences. I started my new, and much better, life in my early 20's as well.
