i recently had a well meaning friend give the po a letter concerning me.
it was all about an incident i like to call "the picture heard around the world".
it got me to thinking about the possibilty of someone sending the elders a letter without signing their name to it.
Anonymous letters, while annoying, really should have no impact. If one knows a fellow witness has DONE something aren't they supposed to go to that person first, before going to the elders? Anonymous letters and notes can not be shown to have followed that step.
This is just my opinion for what it's worth.

i remember after my sister got baptised she said that the brother who dunked her under told her not to listen to a song, i think it was "new sensation" or something like that which was a popular song for the 80's period.
i remember a lot of songs being banned because of lyrics that had nothing to do with what they thought it had to do with.

Eventually, the list was photo copied and made it's way into the hands of the rank & file. I specifically remember seeing a phot copy of it. ( I think it was around 1983 or so) This list was not intended to be distributed in the congregations; as it was a Bethel guideline for the Bethel family. But, individual Witnesses took it upon themselves to try to enforce this guideline in the congregations."
I find it strange that during the time period mentioned local congregation had three brothers at bethel and nary a mention of any such list locally.
Your last sentence here says it all INDIVIDUAL Witnesses took it upon THEMSELVES.

i guess since leaving the witnesses, i have become willing to listen to more things.
mainly because i learned in life, that if the religion you were raised to live and die for is wrong, and deceptive, then couldn't that be said of government and science?
so with this in mind, of the ones i am going to list below.

Amateur astronomers were able to track the moon missions. It's tough to fake the telemetry involved on such missions.
As for not going back, America lost interest. However plans are now in the works to go back to the moon.

One should remember that freedom is not without limits. I'm free to get drunk, no one has the right to stop me. If I would get behind the wheel in that condition then I am endangering not only myself but anyone else who's path I might cross. Do I have the freedom to do so? I don't believe I do. I do not have the right to take that risk. It is not a "freedom" issue but a saftey issue.
Back when child car seats were becoming mandatory the local police department set up a check point to stop and make sure such were being used.Would you consider such a stop to be an infringement of your 'rights'? Sorry but I'm all in favor of effective measures to get drunk drivers off the road, including random sobriety check points.
You do not have the right to risk others well being just because you feel it's your 'right'.
Much is made of 'freedom of speech' but just try shouting "FIRE" in a crowded place sometime!

I agree it is wrong to punish someone for a crime they have not yet committed. However, if they are behind the wheel and drunk they have ALREADY committed the crime!

Having been involved in two accidents where the other drivers were driving under the influence I like this. One drunk driver killed my neighbor and left his wife seriously injured. She spent over two months in the hospital.
If this stops one drunk driver then that's one less drunk on the road!
