A lot of you have spoken about the cruelty of judgement that JW's display. And, in defense of myself and some members of my family, we liked to think that when Moses crossed the Red Sea a vast crowd of foreigners crossed over with them. A recent conversation with my brother and an old friend assisted in the understanding that the majority of JW's do not feel that way, in fact they hate and judge everyone that isn't labeled correctly. It always bothered me that JW's were so biased to think that no one else on earth would be saved except JW's, like they are all so perfect and without sin. Just wanted to clear up that little tidbit.

Getting Busted w/ Love Letters
by OpenFireGlass in.
love letters were the demise for many of the kids in congregations that i attended growing up..... i know i ended up in the library/back room several times for this (hopless romantic/ sagitarius) even put on public reproof for it.
(though i believe it was my dad's idea to have the elders put me on public reproof so that he could have more control over me).

I never was caught with love letters. I wrote a couple to one of the foriegn exchange students from Denmark. Christian. He was beautiful. Anyway, nothing came of it. He had so many girls after him, he wasn't going to look twice at a little freshman. Uninformed, if you are reading this, I just expressed how nice I thought he was, just a little crush. Ha Ha. I don't think I would have gotten in trouble if they had found out. My parents were pretty easy going.
Open fire glass, your punishement seemed really harsh. Did your dad ever apologize?

I am wondering, What made all of us different? To explain. Obviously most all of us here were at one time brainwashed and endoctrinated with the rest of the rank and file of JW's. We believed, preached, sang, laughed, cried and sometimes even enjoyed the course we had chosen. What clicked in our brains? Why did we suddenly realize that something was wrong? I know that at one time I was like the rest, you don't question, you just follow, this is the truth and I had no doubt whatsoever. Please someone explain to me, what made us decide that the course we were so convinced of being correct at one time is now so absolutely wrong? So, much so, that even if we found out it was the proper way, (God forbid), we wouldn't go back ever. I used to love it, no joke, now, I hate it. I am not complaining, just trying to understand what clicked?

Happy to oblige. If everything that comes out of Ireland is as good as your beer, you must be one very happy race of people.

The concensus was to leave old magazines. They said "the information contained in them is still beneficial and current." Though, as I was always behind and seemed to have tons of magazines, I would leave the current issues in the door. After those were all gone I would then leave the older ones. It was quite amazing because about six to eight months ago, when I had decided that I had finally had enough, I burned all of the old magazines that I had. The fire burned for three whole days. I guess I didn't place enough. Should have kept them for winter and saved them for fire wood. Then they would have actually been beneficial!

Zealous JW`s having children......
by jambon1 inwhen we had our children we planned them.
we made this known to any in the cong who asked if we 'got a surprise' when we found out we were pregnant.
we basically said, 'no, we wanted children'.

I know exactly how it feels. My inlaws were very, very anti children and expressed those views quite frequently. When their daughter became pregnant the first time, the second time and the third time, there was no joy, just disappointment that they couldn't wait until the new system to have children. My sister-in-law was so unhappy she cried all of the time about being pregnant. (Of course, this was back in the 80's when those d.c. talks were coming out about not having children.) I saw her pregnant on the third one and the only thing the in-laws could say was poor poor girl. It was rather disgusting. She, my sister in law, was only concerned about how she was going to continue to regular pioneer, this was though tears as well. Ones in the congregation were always saying how the young couples should wait until the new system to have children.
When I finally became pregnant, there was no congratulations from the in-laws. But at least they knew that we were happy about the gift from God. They certainly arn't grandparents either. They have never shown any concern for my son. When he has been sick they don't even call to check on him.
The organization has made it a sin to even think about having children. This is just another instance where they have twisted the few scriptures in the Greek where it even mentions children.
My aunt, who is way past child bearing years, hates my mother because she has children. Her and her husband were going to wait until the new system to have children. Now they are older and bitter because of the choice that was forced upon them.

Very, very sorry for your loss. And the ill treatment you are receiving. Hopefully soon you and your wife will be ready to try again. Sounds like you have a lot of love to give a beautiful baby.
