do you every worry about dying?
do you think that you probably won't have a very long life?
Not afraid of dying, though I do worry about leaving my loved ones with sadness and grief. So I try to be prepared and live my best every day, in case it's the last one.
A long life is relative, whether it's meant in terms of physical years or life experience.
ok, i've been involved with jw's for 15 years or so, but i've not been deep enough into any "clicks" to know how someone gets "marked".
will someone explain?
i'm sure i must have been marked more than once for stupid reasons - only going to 2-3 of the 5 weekly meetings (hey, some of us do have to do laundry every now and then), not commenting enough (they wouldn't want to hear my comments now), not going out in service enough, etc.
On the Fence, that's so funny, my list is about the same except for #5, mine would be liking being single and not looking for a good jw mate -- add owning a business (women aren't supposed to), working on weekends, going to churches to deliver flowers, name (byline) published in newspaper, college education, volunteer work, clothing "too elegant" at meetings, clothing too "suggestive" at home (shorts), talking to married brother outside KH (in parking lot), car too old, car too new, car too small, car "pretentious", pet bird possessed by demons, pierced ears, bald head (chemotherapy)... to name a few.
The word gets around through an informal gossip mill, here it seems it's often started by an elder or his wife. Some things, like the bald head, were addressed in local needs talk. Of course it's discussed in the most caring way, to lovingly warn the others of a possible bad association.
or last night i hung out with an old friend.
she's always been strange to me.
we don't really believe in the same things but i always thought of her as a good person that was still fun to be around (in small doses) even if we had disagreements.. i hadn't seen her in a year or so.
She just might not 'want' to work
If that's what she thinks then the joke's on her. Staying home raising children and caring for a house is the hardest work there is and demands the highest degree of responsibility..... with little time off and no overtime pay
About the "obey" part...............
I hope your friend thinks it through and isn't just blinded by the sparkly ring!

Yes my Tango is cautious with strangers too and sometimes quite aggressive. He once chased two jws out of my house, lol. He got on the floor and stalked them, never bit, just kept pulling at the elder's pant leg and walking real fast at the sister, looking all bad at them, and kind of mumbling to himself. (For some reason, he really likes the ups guy though.) He pulled out a bunch of his wing and breast feathers a couple of weeks ago, I can't figure out why, the bird doc said he must have been bored or upset. It's so disturbing and sad when they do that, like self mutilation. They are sensitive little creatures. Excellent that Rocco's feathers are growing back!!!

LOL that's so funny --- I've tried getting my mac to wear hats, he just gets really embarassed, goes into his house and sits with his face to the corner . He'd kill himself (or me) if I put a flight suit on him!!!!
Does the cockatoo pull his feathers out like macaws do when they get upset or lonely?

my little friend, is gone.
for thirty three years we walked, he flew actually and then when too old, he walked, but we walked the same path.
yesterday morning i found he had died in the night and now....well, now all the sadness is here.
I am sorry for your loss , hoping you find comfort in the time you had together .
my favorite stress management tool (besides being goofy with my kids) is singing in a barbershop quartet.
just 4 voices...ringing harmonies....i know its old fashioned and sappy but i like it.. any other old..or young farts out there that sing barbershop....or other styles too?.
how does music and being able to express yourself with it effect your life?.
I play the piano and sing with a group that goes to places like hospitals, nursing homes, homeless shelters, and to where tragedies have struck - we went to Columbine after the school shootings, to 9/11 remembrances - we usually do sing alongs, just to bring some happiness to others and help them away from their troubles.
Music brings people together in a happy way!
