it's been a long time since i last posted, but something recently happened that is making making me heartsick... i just learned that one of my children is engaged to be married.
all of my children are grown up and when they reach around 18 years old, decided to become jws.
they were quite young when i left the organization, shortly after which my wife and i separated.
I just can't imagine leaving my parents behind for some religion. And yet come to think of it: I may someday have to deal with the same thing just the opposite. My parents disowning me b/c of the path that I want to take.
A relgion that truly destroys lives. I am truly sorry for your loss. Bryan's and everyone else's too.
i was reading the story of james caputo on his site disfellowshipped.org when i came to the realization that i received favorable treatment because of who my father is.
i was 17 when i told my father that i didnt want to be a jw anymore because i just didnt really believe in it, i think i said something along the lines of i just don't "feel it" anyways he told me that since i was a minor i would have to keep going to the meetings and that i would have to tell the elders how i felt.
so a few days later 2 elders who had known me since i was 6 years old came over and talked to me, although they made it clear from the outset that it wasn't a jc.
Well lucky you. Funny, cause I remember not getting reproved/DF 2 years ago when I got a DUI (no biggie, just the fact that I was underage I was put in jail for the night) and the elders only read me a few scriptures and they were one their way.
My dad is neither and elder or MS. What gives?

it's about a mormon offshoot group, complete with a commune, child brides, and polygamy.
My dad used to be a polygamist. (till he came into the TrooF of course) Got a whole bunch of half brothers/sisters running around. It's quite funny when they all come to visit. We all can't stand each other. Bunch of pests.
i don't know of anyone who can answer this question totally but i do like this man's response!

I find it very interesting that in this talk they say Jehover "remains very much in control of matters affecting the earth" yet at the same time they say that Satan rules the world on their web site.

yesterday afternoon i was in my office when two elders stopped by for a visit.
they came into my job and began to question me in front of my boss and my new assistant!
I'm so sorry this happend Lola. I'm angry just reading about it! You're lucky you have such an understanding boss because some may have been mad and give you a warning about bringing your personal life into the workplace! What are you gonna do? you think you'll be able to keep this up?
