I rememeber when I was little and was studying the live forever book. Boy, once we got to the chapter on demons I could not sleep alone for a whole week! I'd scream Jehovah Jehovah every time I heard even a little noise. What a shame that I was put through that

Apostate Story @ New York Times
by DannyHaszard inthree times a week in the kingdom hall in miami, my brother and i strove to sit perfectly still in our chairs.
our mother carried a wooden spoon in her purse and was quick to take us outside for beatings if we fidgeted.
i sat onstage in the kingdom hall in surrey, england, where my father's job had taken us.

JUST WANTED TO SAY THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO TOOK THE TIME OUT TO POST ENCOURAGING WORDS IN MY TOPIC ON "COLLEGE OR PIONEER?" I GOT OVER 4 PAGES OF RESPONSES! I PRINTED THEM ALL OUT AND KEEP THEM IN MY BOOK BAG AND READ THEM WHEN I NEED THE ENCOURAGEMENT. ESPECIALLY DURING THE TIMES WHEN I'M IN PSYCHOLOGY CLASS AND I GOT 18 YEAR OLDS THROWING SPIT BALLS ACROSS THE ROOM. (WAS I REALLY THAT IMMATURE WHEN I WAS THEIR AGE?) TO HEAR ABOUT ALL THOSE WHO NEVER GOT A CHANCE TO GO AND STILL REGRET IT AND THOSE WHO ARE IN THEIR 40'S AND 50'S WHO ARE FINNALLY IN SCHOOL NOW MADE ME REALIZE HOW MUCH I AM GLAD I AINT WASTING ANYMORE TIME. ANYWAYS, AGAIN THANKS EVERYBODY AND OH I GET IT NOW: GO TO COLLEGE!

I definetly plan on being more spiritual than religious. If I ever step foot in a religous place it will be non-denominational.

I understand completely. As a young person I've had to go to the county clinic mroe times I can count. I am the most paranoid individual and am constantly requesting pap smears, std testing. I'll even ask the doctor to give it a good sniff just to make sure everything looks ok. And the lady who works at the front desk I am almost positive goes to a hall that I used to go to but I was not there very long. I'm sure that if she recognized me she would have no problem telling the elders I am at the clinic getting std testing. I knew a girl who got in trouble that way. I would defintetly take action if one did that to me.

HUGE QUESTION!
by stillAwitness ini been meaning to figure out the ansewr to this question for like 3 weeks now but been too afraid of course to ask anyone in the congreagtion since my questions tend to be more questionable than a simple inquiry.
anyways a young girl in my hall was announced as "no longer being one of jehovah's wittnesses."??
weird.

To ansewr your question M.J. I actually wish there were more like me. Most young people that I know of who question the truth usually don't know how to go about finding the ansewrs and end up getting D'F intentionally just b/c they figure that is the only way out. I have no friends my age who are witnesses. There is nobody in my hall or any of the other halls in my area who are in their 20's. They've usually left by the time they reach that age. Those who are still around are either full time pioneers or in bethel. Then there are those "ohh, why don't we spend saturday night preparing our watchtower togethor yeah!" So not cool. I know some who are pretty smart in that they go off too college somewhere on full scholarships that way they won't need to worry about their parents not supporting them. Wish I had those guts. But it would be nice to meet some in the same boat as me. But I am VERY careful. I prefer to keep seperate from any witnesesses b/c even if they are living a double life (partying, clubbin etc) they almost always draw the line at "apostate thinking."

What do you say in field service?
by blindersoff ini learned the truth about the truth after i was df.

He is doing this for his family. I can understand. Look at me. Only 21 but I've been on sites like these since I was 17 and I got baptzed at 14. I know what is the real truth but what choice do i have? I need to get my education first and then think about making the big annucement. Need to be established and stuff. Everyone has sacriffices that need to be made. And to ansewr you're question. The society is stressing reading and explaining a bible scripture when you go to the door. Not just leaving magazines. They are pushing us more than ever to start bible studies right on their doorstep. It sucks. But I still just leave magazines. And the ones that don't get placed I always trash. I dunno why I feel bad doing that sometimes? I guess b/c its like wasting a tree maybe? anyways, and now its like don't just go out in service on sat but at least one day during the week blah blah blah.

Why aren't congregations much bigger in size?
by JH in.
like that, they wouldn't need so many elders and ms. they would have plenty of brothers to read and pass the mic.. no where in the bible do they mention how big or small a congregation should be.
if ever one day they have a hard time forming enough ms and elders, wouldn't it be simpler to just make congregations larger?

I think its about control too. And you are right JH it does make it harder to sleep!

I see. I get it now. How can one be so dumb? I wonder if she even finds it weird they would announce her D'F in such way. Weird. I know what everyone is saying on here Its not like I am blind to what goes on in the WT. If I was I would not be on here. But what can I do? I still live at home, my parents are paying for my education. Would not everyone agree that it would be dumb to make an annoucement tomorrow that I don't wanna be a witness anymore? Don't you think the elders would coerce my folks in kicking me out after all I am 21 way above the legal age. Then where would I go. I am just playing it smart. Getting my education becoming financially stable and then when its time I will make that step.
