  wow!

  i can't believe just how irritated i got reading some of things on here today-i've been away for a few weeks, and now the anti-jw sentiment is flooding back .

  i called my dad a few minutes ago to have a chat, and after all was said and done and we'd spoken about work, life (mine's fantastic btw) etc he tells me that "he thinks that what i need is some spiritual direction and belief in my life" !!

  Even though you are obviously the one who does not need someone "counseling" you here; here's where you messed up. Ya know how it is-say one thing bad about Society and its like you've just announced you're having a sex change operation.

  Perhaps you can just tell your dad-"I prefer not to talk about that dad -so how 'bout them Yankee's huh ?"

  a 5 page letter was read last night from the gb in reference to the hospital liaison committe.

  i never knew those guys had so much power!

  i tried best i could to write down all the important points word for word as they were said: (apparently the letter will not be posted on the board but anyone is free to speak to an elder with any questions concerning the letter:

  My mom is having knee surgery in the coming weeks. I just don't want nobody poking their nose in where they don't belong.

  I know its wrong but I plan on slipping her blood card out of her wallet just in case.

  When I was in the hospital they were able to read my chart. I did not even know they were doing that. They go too far.

  Are you serious!?? Was that before the whole Patient Privacy Act they have now? Did you ask for them to even be there? I don't even have my blood card anymore. Ya think they could just speak on my behalf regardless?

  Apparently the HLC is there to help the medical field to understand our religious beliefs regarding blood.

  They attend medical conferences around the world and doctors even contacts the HLC to help with their JW patients in seeking bloodless surgery.

  Members of HLC have developed a close relationship with doctors in your area that will do and have expiereince in bloodless surgery.

  Those who should seek HLC: pregnant sisters, childern, those due to go into surgery (even if it is somethng minor) In fact, it is better to contact the HLC before choosing a surgeon.

  Some publishers appoint non-witness family members to be the decision maker regarding their health (in case one should slip into a coma and whatnot)

  16 Questions and Ansewrs read by Elder:

  Number 3: May the HLC sepak directly with my doctor? In some cases with your permission they may be able to offer suggestions to the doctors who are performing the surgey.

  Number 4: Is it necessary to contact the HLC before treatment if my doctor agrees to use non blood methods? No, but what you want is a doctor who is highly expirienced in dealing with bloodless medicine and the HLC will be able to provide you with one.

  There were more but time ran out and again the elder said we can approach him after the meeting with any questions. Kind of weird that it was not posted on the board huh?

  So my question is this-I mean are these guys doctors? Obviously not so why would anyone put their trust in them to speak with their doctors and everything?

  They have to be breaking some kind of law here. Kind of like if someone was to act as an attorney for someone and they really aren't one? Same thing right?

  So how are they able to go to these medical conferences and all? What's more is why in the world would any respecatble surgeon listen to a thing they have to say and they have no degree or expertise in the medical field?! I'm confused here.

  i was peacefully reading an old copy of stephen cox' article "can the truth survive the internet", and all of a sudden i realize that the instrumental music playing is the d*mn kingdom melodies.

  it was actually pretty good.

  it was that instrumental cd released sometime back with a lot of harp, piano, and woodwinds in it.

  did any of you hear ever recieve counsel for wearing brand name clothes, such as t-shirt logos, designer sneakers etc?

  have you noticed in the wt and awake!

  publications, no one ever wears levi's, baseball caps or sneakers?

  Oh yeah! You'll never see! The WT Society obviously would prefer us not to wear jeans and what not but what ya gonna do right?

  I never heard about not wearing brand names but wearing that stuff to kingdom hall cleanings and all used to get some kids in trouble.
