Has anyone ever posted about the tons of TIME magazine articles about the JWs? TIME has been around forever and has been a 'witness' (pardon the pun) to much of their history .. clear back to the 1930s. Go to the TIME website and search for yourself! Here are some goodies I found. I had no idea about the 2874 date that Rutherford set. What a nut!

If you could be a Bible character....
by Fleshybirdfodder ini'd be babylon the great.
always looked like she was having a good time seducing kings of the earth and getting hammered off of holy peoples' blood whilst bronco riding that multiheaded, horned furry cat thing.

The Apostle John... I just would like to know what he was trippin' on when he wrote Revelation.
LOL! You beat me to it! That was the first thought that came into my mind, too.
Since it's taken, I guess I will be one of the high priests that burned the "incense" at the temple. Maybe I can find out what they were smoking too!

What bible verse would you change?

I would change Genesis and put Eddie Izzard's version of creationism in:
God:I created the world in six days, and on the seventh day, rested. Eighth day I actually rested as well. Ninth day, rested, 'cause I fucking had just made a world, you know. Tenth day, rested - actually I rested from then on, really. Fourteenth day I decided to smoke all the marijuana I had created, just to test the first batch. On the fifteenth day I decided to smoke all the opium I had created, just to test the first batch. And on the 309th day I woke up again, and I decided to create 500 huge monsters that I'd seen just the night before.
Jesus: Dad, did you have to make them so stupid?
God: Well I didn't know what I was doing, I was off my tits!

This is the only place I don't feel ugly
by Abandoned ini want to thank everyone here for all the help and kind words offered to me as i adjust to having worth.
i guess i have a long way to go and i guess i'm going to have to go and see a counselor like someone else suggested.. no matter how hard i work or what i accomplish, i still feel so ugly and i'm still afraid of the stupidest things.
i don't know if my fears are on par with paranoia, but they are definitely distracting and i need to get some outside assistance.. the good news is that around here, with people who've gone through the same, i feel better.

Counseling does wonders, Abandoned! You won't regret it!
Now go look in the mirror and repeat after me ... "I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and dog-gone-it, people like me!" (old Saturday Night Live reference)

Hey...Wild thing I knew some people that lived inTyler. When did you live there?
I grew up there. From late 70s until 1993. We were quite active and knew EVERYONE there at just about all congregations, due to have generations of JWs there before me and traveling to other congegrations for "visiting speaker" etc.
Abandoned ... if the quickbuild was in 1991, it was probably MY congregation ... Whitehouse?

I am not alone!
by BCZAR2ME inthere is someone else; someone elusive.. the cd player at the kh allows anyone to enter the title and author of the cd.. this was found for each:.
title: cocophoniesauthor: watcher societyhow do i pinpoint my comrade in dissidence?
(without blowing my cover).

Wild_Thing
I wouldn't get too excited. It's probably just someone with an 8th grade education who doesn't really know what "cacophony" really means and doesn't know how to spell watchtower without looking at the cover of the magazine!

The New "Invite" - How Stupid Can They Be?
by metatron inwhile traveling down thru new england, i happened across one of the new district convention "invites".. how dumb can the watchtower society get?
for the moment, let's ignore the fact that they expect people to drop everything.
within a radius of one, two or even three hundred miles and attend an inner city convention over a weekend.

Also, they don't have labels on them because the local congregations are supposed to put them on there. I saw one that had a label. It had the date, location, and address. Sorta like the labels that Avon ladies put on the back of their books!
