so the next time you are in a group of witnesses and discussion about a sad event where people died occurs (such as a car accident, natural disaster etc), just casually say:.
" oh well, that's a few less people jehovah has to kill at armageddon.....so don't be upset!...at least they now get a resurrection".
that will make witnesses think!.
Wait a minute ... when I was growing up, the only ones they said would be ressurected, were the ones who had not been witnessed to yet. I was always taught that when we went out "witnessing from door to door", it was to "separate the sheep from the goats" and of course, the goats would be destroyed. Has this changed?
Seriously, they talked about worldly people being destroyed A LOT!

I have heard witnesses joke about not wanting to stand next to somebody who was going to be destroyed at Armageddon because they might splatter. The organization has been ... for a very long time ... ingraining in their members sweet dreams of mass annihilation and birds pecking out the eyes of the evil, and Jehovah's people having the privilege of cleaning up their dead bodies.
They have become desensitized to how wrong their fantasies are.

No, I don't think it will. You are giving them far too much credit to think they will "think".
of all of the watchtower's many publications dating now to all the way back to russell, which one publication is the most damning in showing they are a complete crachpot of a religion?
and i course, i mean which original publication before they changed a few words and reprinted!.
personally, i think it is probably russell's the divine plan of the ages.
@speargrass55 Jwfacts.com has a pretty interesting article on beards. Apparently, Rutherford felt that many of the brothers were growing beards in imitation of Russell, so after he died, he squashed it.
we have a version with our commentary: http://youtu.be/yn17rj_pyd4.
we also have an un-cut, un-edited version of the audio: http://youtu.be/pihfucr38sw.

Marking. Waiting for the transcript. I can't stomach listening to it.

This is a sad story and I hope the child is okay. But .... the irony cannot escape me. When I was a kid, we had a family friend, and when we encountered someone she considered especially worthy of Jehovah's destruction, she would say, "I don't want to be standing beside him when Jehovah strikes him down! It's not that I'm afraid Jehovah will miss, I'm afraid of splatter." I thought it was funny at the time. Now I just shake my head.
I wonder how many JWs have fantasies about Jehovah striking people down at Armageddon?

I have thought about spending loads of money on antiquitated Watchtower books and giving them as a gift to my mom. But in my heart, I know that (a) it wouldn't make a difference, and (b) she would be too scared to look at them just because I was the one who gave them to her.

Personally, I think it is probably Russell's The Divine Plan of the Ages. I don't think most JWs realize how pyramidism influenced Russell's doctrines, some of which the JWs kept and just changed the reason!
Thoughts?
as i've been chatting with a jw neighbour he has said, "heck, some people think we are a cult!
" and scoffs at very idea.
how ludicrous (he thinks)!
There are many, many definitions of the word, "cult". I think that is the biggest problem. Jehovah's Witnesses fit some of those definitions, but not all of them. I definitely think they fit into the category of "high control group". That is not debatable.
