freddo, thanks for the insight re: the "circuit heavies." It is only reasonable that some WT heavies must be talking about this. Especially COs/appeal committee members who will have dealt with child abuse issues more than the average elder.

Interesting conversation with a JDub regarding kingdom songs.
by joe134cd inwas out side a jdubs house while they were playing kingdom songs.
this is how the conversation went.. me: did you realize that one of their kingdom songs was a copy from the jurassic park theme song.. jdub: where did you find this.
me: hey i've got the down load to the movie, and that theme song has a striking resemblance to that song you just played.

JW.ORG Now requires personal address
by AverageJoe1 inlogging on to the user area access today, there appeared a message saying that they now require a postal and physical home address to attach to your profile, with a note saying that the branch may change the details as they see fit.
this raises several questions in my mind:.
why would they need to have your physical address on file?.

Give them the pope's address in Vatican City.

JWs and legalized Marijuana
by jws ini know this was probably covered before in some post, but i was curious.
what is the jw stance on recreational marijuana use in the states where it has been legalized?.
i would suspect smoking it, like cigarettes, would probably still be against the rules, but there are ways to use it that aren't damaging to your lungs.

doubtfull1799, thanks for the post. I PMed you. To access this, if you don't yet know, up at the top of the page there is a little envelope by your name that turns green when you have mail. I'll wait for your response.
So is the 1799 from the bizarre dating scheme that CT Russell considered so important?

Here is your typical Kingdom Hall of Jehovah'w Witnesses attendance!
by RULES & REGULATIONS in.
kingdom hall south dakota live stream.....i found this video on youtube.com.
it reminds me of my old kingdom hall where hardly anyone is sitting in the front rows and doesn't seem like they have a large membership.most kingdom halls sit around 200 people at the most and seem to have a hard time filling the seats.. my old congregation had around 45 members when i left 4 years ago.we always seemed to have a hard time meeting the monthly expenses.some months,i was told that some elders would contribute extra money so the congregation would not be in the negative for the month.. how many members did your congregation have while you were still attending and did meet its expenses for the month?.

Yes, jwleaks—funny. But what isn't so funny to the GB are the increasing number of overlapping lawsuits draining the bank.

Last Week I Got A Call From An Elder I Haven't Seen In 20 Years...😳
by minimus inwhile i was at work i got a phone call from an elder i haven't seen in decades!
he started asking me questions about my family, my ex, and told me that he heard i "was no longer in the truth".
i got a little defensive and he quickly picked up on it and assured me his call had nothing to do with checking up on me regarding the religion.

SBF is probably right here. Other reasons for him repeatedly "reaching out" (love the irony!) to you are less likely.

How can elders find someone.. And how long would it take?
by Randy notmarsh inlet's throw a hypothetical.
let's say that a body of elders is looking for someone in a different congregation, but don't know what kh he attends, how do they go on about it?
how long do you guys think it'll take?

All they have to do is pay a fee to (or hack into) an online finding service to get your current home address and info. You would have go live off the grid to make that not possible for them, or anyone else today. They hunted me down after over 10 years of being inactive and I'm sure they must have used that method. For someone who is still active, as your OP indicates, it would be even easier, for they could complement the online service with the local BOE.

Does Paul preach a fundamentally different religion than Jesus?
by Yesu Kristo Bwana Wangu incontroversy has arisen regarding jesus versus paul as scholars debate the different emphases and messages of jesus and paul.1 jesus preached the kingdom of heaven.
paul did not.
paul preached justification by faith alone.

That's why I quoted 1 Th, 1 Cor, and Gal. I could have quoted more passages from the supposedly genuine Paulines as well. The OP was not about the debate regarding the disputed Pauline letters but about the kingdom in Paul—nothing like going off on a tangent. What about the matter in the OP?
