Aren't all the Service Dept., Legal Dept., and all the schools there? That is a substantial collection. Surely they cannot easily move all that to Warwick. As I understand it, Walkill is largely the official US Branch office now.

Have you considered that perhaps it's simple case of brown-nosing? That is, Gary Breaux is imitating a mannerism of one member of the GB because he is currying favor with that one and wants in the club, or at least their further approval?

Obituaries

a letter was read this week from the platform stating that publishers should not scour the obituaries and respond to the websites for condolences messaging.

apparently, it is not being taken too well by family and friends and the pubs are asked to refrain from sending a message if they are not friends or family of the deceased.. i recall one sister used to visit grave yard sites and if she saw individuals there, went over and "consoled" them by offering the tract on death and your loved ones.

i cannot even think of how i would have received her, being in my space and thinking she could do that.. apparently they have graduated by reading the obits..

This is such a tactless thing to do. The fact that some R&F Witnesses have to be told not to do it just shows how brainless so many Witnesses are.

OK, I've got to comment on this one. First, whoever is responsible for the link in the OP (perhaps the entire site?) is a Witness. Quotations from the Bible have "Jehovah" in the NT and "exercise faith," a unique Freddie Franz/NWT rendering.

Second, there was an interesting lawsuit in Israel regarding this artifact. The best summary of it, with implications as to the ossuary's authenticity, is in a 21-page appendix in Pieter van der Horst's 2015 book Saxa judaica loquunter: Lessons from Early Jewish Inscriptions (Brill). The Latin in the title means "Jewish stones speak." Van der Horst is a top-notch Dutch scholar who has no interest in biblical faith or apologetics. The value of his contribution is in exposing how, as revealed through the Israeli court case, many of the claims of inauthenticity "were inspired by the fear of being misrepresented as ‘uncritical’ by colleagues” (p. 87). In other words, bona fide scholars jumped on the bandwagon of calling the artifact a fake because they were afraid of being labeled apologetic believers. Nowhere does van der Horst argue for the ossuary’s authenticity, but he certainly does contend for a truly unprejudiced investigation of it.

We all know that the GB has used their legal dept to file appeals, if for no other reason, just to stave off payments and to draw out legal decisions. Could that be the main factor at work in their filing here? That is, they really do not hope to win. They are just putting off payments?

I remember one young couple, newlyweds, who moved into our cong and the sister had long beautiful hair. I was a newbie and could not understand the flack she got about it. It was THE talk of the cong. I kept thinking, "Isn't this mean to her? Aren't there more important things to be concerned with?"

Looking back on it now, I guess it's the rough equivalent to a brother with a beard, another crazy anti-fetish in Witnessland.
