i claim that the greek "parousia" doesn`t mean invisible presence, it simply means "presence".
isn`t that correct?
I have never had anyone present at my house who had not yet come.
Take attendance at school ,all the kids raise their hands who are present. The ones who are not there are coming. ONCE THEY COME they are present.
Parousias also means visit of a ruler which fits Jesus coming. They are both the same event.
You can't be present until you come.
i'm looking for scriptures that you believe a doubting jw would read that would cause them to think a bit.

after a century of preaching and selling literaturature what do people know about the jw's message.
they don't take blood transfusions.
they don't celebrate birthdays.
The only questions they ask are the ones at the bottum of the page.
So the only answers they have are the ones the FDS wants them to have since the FDS wrote the questions.
That is why most JWs don't know as much as the Ex JWs do about JWs.
They constantly ask the same questions and cite the same scriptures.
They use scriptures to support all kinds of wild statements that the scriptures don't support at all.
But nobody ever calls them on it.
The go on and on with the extra Biblical comments at the meetings and are never challenged.
The seek people at the doors who don't read the Bible.
If you do read the Bible and invite them in to do so without WT literature they will likely run refuse. I have seen it.
There are so many scriptures that contradict their doctrines but they don't know they are there because the WTS never cites them.
i'm wondering why no new evolution book has come out since the last one.
i mean that was in the early 80's if i remember correctly and there's so much new information about homo erectus, neandertal and various other forms of human life before (or during if you want to get picky) modern homo sapien existence.
i think it would be really fun to see what type of arguments would be made now, obviously the original evolution book can be pretty easily debunked by current studies, i'm just curious what would be found more recently to combat the evil evolution myth.

i have "google earth", free version, and was scrolling around los angeles, california with it and happened to have the "earth quake" layer mode on, and when i set my altitude for around 16 miles up, i saw where it showed "tons" of earthquakes registered on the map, by way of a red circle.
most of these red circles, when clicked on them, showed an average of 2.5 to 4.2 reading, and a date year of 1994. .
i remember reading this week, about how the watchtower used to say that earthquakes were a sign that the "end is near", and so i'm wondering if it was around the time that all these quakes were happening in california in 1994?.
I thought the Awake 2002 article was pretty big and under reported. It is more WTS new light. Having to face facts in a world where they are available to anyone. The USGS website clearly states earthquakes are not increasing. Sorry WTS but fudging statistics can't change that.
They lost ones of their signs. If they would only admit that the earth's population is exploding because wars, famines and pestilences are NOT wiping out masses of humans they could enjoy some reality for a change.
obviously some of you have been responsible for converting people to the jw religion.
now that youve left, do you ever feel responsible for these people in any way?

I do think about that but they are adults making their own decisions and if they let me I would tell them what I know.

I thought it was understood even in the org that the only law preventing the Dubs from killing everyone else is that they do not need to fight in this instance but that they are waiting on Jehovah.
After all they do believe that the resurrected annointed will take part in the slaughter of everyone else at armageddon.
What they actually pray for when they pray for the kingdom to come is horrifying. I have heard more than one witness comment on whose house they wanted to take after armageddon in some sick fantacy of sharing in the spoils of war.
I don't see much difference between any group that wants to wipe out everyone else but themselves and have the whole earth for themselves. Details in ideology thats about it.
Focusing on this helped me see that the JW fantasy of armageddon for all but them would never happen. They just didn't deserve it. I couldn't see any differences between the average JW and the average person. In many cases JWs I knew were less moral, less Christian.
If some have traveled thru Cambodia and can't see the comparison then try to envision taking a walk around after the JW armageddon. I would imagine it would be worse.

Thanks for your posts Jeffro. It is good to remind people of the flaws in the WT doctrine. I have always chuckled at the October 1914 date and what the WTS attributes to it. Recorded history does not support their claims.
The WTS also writes way too much into Daniel that is not there. And where is the reason to conclude that the Pagan King Nebuchadnezzar represents God? And who is God (verse 17) when God is Nebuchadnezzar?
You made some other good points I was not aware of which I will look into further.
All this date setting seems to have come out of a sad period of Christianity. Since it has led to nothing but false teachings that require constant revisions I think the conclusion is obvious. Christ never intended nor commanded any to guess at these dates.
One only need to research false teaching in the New Testament to see the seriousness of it for a Christian.

Pol Pot just used the wrong lingo. He should have said:
I'm going to destroy the wicked, eliminate false religion, remove apostates, destroy greedy merchants, and give the survivors satisfying work to my glory.
Its all in how you sell it.
no matter what the watchtower says, the watchtower turns their followers away from the bible.. let's look at isaiah 43:10........(nwths)..."you are my witnesses is the utterance of jehovah..even my servant whom i have chosen, in order that you may know and have faith in me, and that you may understand that i am the same one.
before me there was no god formed, and after me there continued to be none....11>i am jehovah and besides me there is no savior.".
but don't stop there....there's more..in acts 1:8...it says..."but you will receive power when the holy spirit arrives upon you, and you will be witnesses of me both in jerusalem and in all judea and samaria and to the most distant part of the earth..".
You are right on Reverend. The Witnesses got it wrong. They work hard to hide it with the NWT.
