  What the hell is the WTS saying about evolution now?

  did anyone read the recent wts "special article" about creation and evolution?

  i read it and fell of my freaking seat.

  get this, the wts now believes (and yes, they want everyone to agree or else) that god created the universe billions of years ago and that nothing was created in six days as shown in genesis!.

  The 1963 All scripture is Inspired Book has the universe being created in 46,026 BCE. At that time they held to the view that each day was 7,000 years and then after 6 days(42,000 years) God rested (the Sabbath) after the 7th day(49,000 years) there would be the great Jubilee (the 1,000 year reign) after that everything would be back to the way it was in the beginning. This was modeled after the Jewish system and I believe this was a view held by other Bible commentators from before my time.

  If the 1,000 year reign started in 1975 as expected this theory would have been right. If you were a studious Witness back then you could have expected the 1,000 year reign in 1975 based on this alone.

  I haven't posted here in ages and was checking back to see whats going on. I read your story and am so happy for you. You are free. It sounds like you have some pain to deal with but life will get better and does the longer your gone from the Tower. I started college after leaving, my jobs better and I am so much happier. I think it comes down to having much more self respect and dignity. I always knew things weren't quite right in the WT but is only now that I am gone that I see how that affected me. It is amazing how little thoughts of how wrong they are continue to occur to me.

  Catholics have " Sacred Tradition", which are teachings or practices that are not in the scriptures but have become equal to scripture.

  Similiar to JWs, 5 meetings, turning in time, titles like pioneers, observing 1914 as Christ's return, 1919 as the year of inspection, etc.

  Waters Above the Firmament, the source of rain?

  my own unscholarly thought is that the "waters above the firmament" mentioned in genesis chapter 1 was an attempt to explain the source of rain (water) that falls from the sky (heaven or the firmament).. ok, now as o'reilly would say, "where am i wrong?"..

  i toured wallkill in the last month; the tour guide stated, in very clear terms, that the wt leadership is "sending home" many older couples and older ones, and replacing them with younger ones as they need to.

  he did say it was because their experience was of more use in the field.

  The WTS teaches that the organization is Jehovah's wife. So trading the older ones for younger ones is exactly like divorcing your old wife for a younger one, something that Jehovah forbids in the Hebrew Scriptures.

  I once spilled grapenuts on the kitchen floor and saw the face of Jesus in it. I didn't wash the floor for days until the mold grew in and made it look like Kid Rock's ass. I got out the vacum.

  I'm 3 years faded. Wife is still in. I still see witnesses at witness social functions I attend with my wife.

  For her sake I play by the rules and don't speak of things the WTS doesn't want the dubs to know. They leave me alone.

  The main reason they think I left is the UN and they don't want to discuss it.

  I have developed some new friendships and my wife is joins me with them.

  I would like my wife to move on but respect her right to pursue her own faith.

  That doesn't stop me from sharing things with her I think she should know.

  may 4th is a memorial day in china.

  it is when students demonstrating at chinese universities were murdered by the government led by chiang kaishek (jiang jieshi whom the us supported) before ww2.

  many organisers fled to japan, only to have to wait out the war before going home.

  I can't wait for China to change. It is happening but so slowly. I feel so bad for the Chinese people who are abused and for the Tibetans and others.
