Exactly. sort of like when someone has doubts about the organization, they are supposed to do "research" by reading the watchtower. makes a lot of sense.

Brand New Blood Card meeting - Your Blood will run cold.
by hamsterbait ini first noticed that no scriptural discussion of the choice is made, so it all appears to be solely the decision of the signatory.. when choosing alternatives of treatment, the witless merely initials his choice under clauses 3 and 4. since this simply indicates choice, full signature and witness are not required.. .
now clause 6:.
"i consent to my medical records ands the details of my condition being shared with the emergency contact below (cong secretary recommended) and/or with member(s) of the hospital liaison committee for jehovah's witnesses.. .

My friend and I toured the Queen Mary when we were teenagers. We were in the engine room, and they had most of the walkways chained off so that you were guided through only a few approved areas. We picked a spot and moved the chain, so that it blocked off the correct way and opened up the walkways into the bowels of the ship. Then we just stood back as group after group of people walked in to the darkness and wandered away. It only took a few minutes before there was people everywhere trying to figure out where they were. Now that I think about it, I guess it wasn't the safest prank, considering the lack of lights and all, but at the time it was damn funny.
Another friend of mine and I went on an awesome ski trip to Whistler. We had a long layover at one airport, so we killed time by waiting at a gate and greeting strangers like they were family. We would make up a name, pick a person, and then run towards them like we were on the verge of tears and try to hug them. Some people would actually do it, it seemed like they were afraid maybe they should know us and just forgot.
ah, the good old days!!

A concerted effort during a watchtower study?
by mkr32208 inwas thinking about this today!
what we need to come up with is something like crazies 586/7 list from watchtower sources showing the kings list.
then next time they have a prophecy watchtower study we could all go to different halls where no one would know us and have a prepared answer typed up with watchtowerese language something like;.

The only problem is that so few people in the audience understand the society's timetable to begin with. They would probably sit there, spaced out, and not even get the significance of the comment. I strongly feel that the majority of the people sitting in the hall don't think deeply about any of the society's teachings. When they do, they usually end up being part of our crowd, if you know what I mean.

Brand New Blood Card
by PoppyR inhubby has just come back from the service meeting where they have been handed out brand new style blood cards, now called 'advance decision to refuse specified medical treatment' .
it's quite a bit different.
and has the line on it about giving permission to the hospital liason committee to see your notes and medical records.. very scary stuff i think, and i certainly wont be filling one in.. i'm really short of time tonight, but will scan it in, along with the notes that go with it and try and post it some time over the next day or so if someone else doesn't beat me to it!.

This is ridiculous. I wonder how those with active jw mates like myself should handle this. I obviously can't force my wife not to sign it, but I will definitely do my best to get her to think about what she is signing. Thankfully, she works in the medical profession, so hopefully this will raise a red flag in her mind.
Also, do you think the elders will try to use this as ammunition towards the many of us who are inactive but not df'd? You know, they might start coming around, testing us by trying to give us the new card and seeing if we are willing to sign it.

It seems to me like each move being made involves putting more liability on the individual, and less on the society. If everybody is signing a form that lets the elders view their medical records ( I mean, what is more confidential than medical records? ) then it would probably be real tough to complain about their high control to lawyers or media. Who will look like the idiot, the corporation who protected themself, or the individual who signed over their most sensitive information to unqualified nobodies with hardly a thought? People on the outside won't understand the social pressure and consequences that witnesses face if they don't go along with crap like this.
It makes my blood run cold, no pun intended, to realize the extent that people's lives are being run under the ruse of "God's Direction".

Living proof: Elders are not spirit appointed
by IP_SEC inwitnesses say that elders are appointed by holy spirit.
the bible is the product of hs and when the body prays and uses the bibles qualifications for older men in the context of the perspective candidate hs is involved in his approval or disapproval.
then when the co passes the recommendation on the gb (or who ever actually makes the decision) these spirit appointed men are influenced by hs.. all well and good, the only problem is, it does not work.

Richie, that was hilarious! I wish I was enlightened back when I had to put up with a judicial committee. I sat in the other room and sweated like a whore in church worrying what was gonna happen to me.

JWs and paganism
by Super_Becka inok guys, i've been contemplating the world of the jws - which isn't an especially good idea because the more you think about it, the less sense it makes - and the whole "we don't do anything pagan" thing is really getting to me, just because it's so hypocritical.. so what i'm looking for is this - a list of any and all pagan practices that are just fine, according to wts rules and regulations.
anything big or small that's not banned by the wts but clearly has pagan origins.. and to make myself clear, i'm not looking to argue, i'm not looking to irritate any of the jws we have lurking around here (sweetscholar comes to mind), i'm just looking for a list, plain and simple.. let me start:.

What is God's true organization he is using? if this not it, then point me
by amommy ini have been a jw all my life, my sister and i are now in our late twenties and are so unhappy and after desparate attempts to keep up meeting attendance are not spiritually motivated.
we in last few weeks have found some very disturbing things in our search such as the un involvement.
after research on these things and use of the wt library the society speaks for it's self on these issues calling the un the "disgusting thing" that the book of daniel spoke about(wt 85' para.

Welcome, amommy. I wish you well in this situation. I have had nearly the same conversation with members of my family. I just keep asking who, where, and how was the authority of the organization established? If they tell you 1919, you can easily point out what the organization was teaching in 1919. Ask if they know that you could be disfellowshipped for apostacy for practicing most of the things that were being taught at that time.
And don't be thrown off by slave1111. He's our resident man-god and very entertaining. I am campaigning to be one of his apostles. Amen!!

The fact that they teach that only Jehovah can read the heart and judge, and then turn around and use elders to judge people based on appearances.
