I was sitting in a quiet lounge on a cruise ship, reading a book, sipping a martini, and watching the water go by. I had sort of an "Ah Hah!" moment. It just struck me in a new way how big and complicated the world is. The world view I had been taught seemed so simplistic and childish. I thought to myself, "There is so much I don't know". After that, I started reading old publications and researching different topics. When I found that my research was only destroying what little faith I had, I then allowed myself to start reading "apostate" material. After that, it was over.

Where were you when the realization hit, that the WTS was not in the truth?
by whyizit ini was listening to a testimonial by valerie acuff and she said that she was sitting in an assembly, looking around at the crowd and thinking to herself, "this is your family, these are your people.".
she said at that moment she heard a voice inside say, "these are not your people, this is not your family, get up and leave now, and don't ever go back.
" so she took her two children at that very moment and left, and she never went back.

My street shepherding call....

Yep, and if you were going to all the meetings and said you were depressed, you know what he would say?
Pray more.
Comment more.
Do more personal study.
Go in service more.
It doesn't matter how much you do in the organization. Any real problems you face will be blamed on a lack of activity on your part.

No, I don't. But I can't really say that out loud because the elders would love to announce it from the platform.

Isaac Hayes quits South Park, apparently over Scientology episode
by DanTheMan instory here.
lol, all the hell that that show has given to xtians and jews over the years, and he never batted an eye.
cultists are a sensitive lot ain't they?

Seriously, though, he's making a fool of himself. No organization or person is safe from the ridicule of South Park, and he's been on the show forever. He's basically saying that Scientologists are the only ones who shouldn't be made fun of. He obviously doesn't even get the humor of the show he's been working on for the last few years.

I can't believe chef is leaving the show. Maybe they'll have a new Isaac Hayes character that they'll kill off every episode instead of me!

inactive J.W.'s- R they witnesses or not?
by Chico86 inare inactive j.w.s still considered j.w.s or as having left the truth?
i get confused because some people talk about family members who are inactive, but say that they are not in the truth.
-
atypical
It has been my experience that an inactive person can be treated with more suspicion and ill will than a DF'd or DA'd person. I think it is because technically there is no reason for witnesses not to talk to or associate with an inactive person, so if the inactive had "apostate" leanings, it would be easier for that person to influence others. Plus, since I have avoided any talks with the elders, speculation about my activity has run hog wild. I have friends who are df'd, and they seem to be totally left alone. They laugh when I tell them about how I am pursued by the elders.

I was kinda down and out today....
by IronClaw inso i went for a ride and stopped by this scenic overlook not to far from my house.
i sat on the bench there just looking at the mohawk valley at its best.
i started thinking what a waste life is when you don't have anyone to share beautiful moments like this with.

IronClaw, I'm really sorry for what you're going through. My wife is also hard-core dub. It is a lonely position to be in, my friend. Just know that you got friends here. I remember you posted a really cool response to one of my threads, and I just want you to know I will take you up on that offer to throw the football around anytime.
Hang in there, bro.

As a JW how do/did you feel about 6 billion people being destroyed?
by jwfacts inhow else can a person justify that jehovah will destroy 6 billion people, innocent children included?
i could never accept that i deserved salvation whereas almost no one else did.
it put me on permanent spiritual edge because i thought the slave is right so the doctrine of destruction must be, but my heart always knew it was wrong.

I never felt right about it. I figured I would die with them because I didn't do enough personal study and didn't pray enough. I grew up dreading any sign that Armageddon was here.
