I disagree, A Paduan. It seems to me that Scout feels driven to warn some who might run from one high control group to another. I think he provides a great service - it's not as though there aren't some very vocal pro-christian voices here getting more than equal time.

"My Apostate Brother"
by scout575 in"i was put up against a wall the last years of my life, always depressed, hopeless and miserable.
even though i was married and had a family i was alone, no one to confide in, no one to turn to, always in fear that my doubt would be discovered and i would become an outcast ( more so ).
i was lucky enough to have my apostate brother refer me to this site.

Panic attacks and Jehovahs Witness!
by Gill inhow many of you had panic attacks when you were a jw and when leaving?
i know of many jw women and a few men who suffered badly with panic attacks.
since recently having another spate of panic attacks i suddenly realised that i had been having them all my life.

I suffered from extreme panic attacks for years before I finally left. I would get sick before I would walk into the hall or bookstudy. I even would down a couple drinks to try and calm myself down enough to get to meeting. I was told I didn't have enough faith, that I didn't study enough, and that I could get through it if only I trusted Jehovah. After I stopped going to meetings and service, I stopped having the panic attacks.
By the way, Gary Busselman- your post was amazing. I really admire the way you can express your understanding of witness culture.

Every time Rex gets leveled on a thread, he runs and starts a new one. I don't think we should respond to his threads......(I can stop anytime I want, I promise....just one more reply......)

Should I admit to JWs that I am disfellowshipped?
by jwfacts ini know about 2000 jws in sydney, and have 50 that are tax clients, so barely a week goes by without bumping into someone i know.
it seems that few of them realise that i am disfellowshipped because they talk freely to me.
last week i accidently sat next to an elder on the train and we engaged in small talk for over 30 minutes.. should i admit to these people that i am not a jw?.

jwfacts, I also say with emphasis: don't play by their rules! Don't forget about the new announcement: "jwfacts is no longer one of jehovah's witnesses". Are you supposed to go around telling everybody that according to three men you are no longer one of jehovah's witnesses? Should you also announce that you are not one of a thousand other denominations? Live in the real world and let them see how screwed up their world is.
I love your site, by the way.

While I don't understand the "laughing, laughing, laughing", I appreciate Darcy's open-minded outlook. And to answer your question, Darcy, I think if you are happy being a jw, then you should stay - but on one condition. The condition is that you stay an independent thinker and stay willing to look at both sides of any argument. I think you will find that a lot of us are here because we were not allowed to do that, plain and simple.
Best wishes to you and please stick around.

Greatest love of all. Whitney Houston.
by Spectrum inwhat a beautiful song!!
i was playing this song when my jw sister was in my room, i said to her listen to the words, did you hear that, .
"the greatest love all is happening to me, i found the greatest love of all inside of me ...... ... learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all" .

In my area, in the circle of witnesses I was around, that song was considered very out of line with Witness teaching, even though we were also well aware that it was George Benson's song, and all liked Benson because he was a JW. It is a very good example of skewed witness thinking.

One law----To love our neighbor as ourself right? then.....
by sinamongurl inhey!!!
i know how opinionated you all are so dont kill me....just wanted to bring up an interesting thought i had.....not that this necessarily shows my beliefs, but in an effort to still try to find myself and discover the truth, it is something i have been pondering for quite some time now.....
so, if the only law we need to follow is to show love to one another.....
-

I agree with Scully. This law has been used to promote different groups' agendas. All they have to do is say that "showing love" includes - (insert whatever belief system you are promoting) and anyone who does not (insert belief system again) is not showing love.

Awake! 1969 May 22 p.15 -- not on any CD Library that I possess.
by Schizm intruthseeker posted the following quote, here: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/114458/2002789/post.ashx#2002789.
i attempted to verify the quote by referring to the society's library, which i possess.
in fact i posess the 1997, 2004, and 2005 libraries.

Schizm, you make a very weak point. Whether or not the words are true, and regardless of how you highlight it, the article sounds offensive and condescending. I suppose we could spend a lifetime pointing out true similarities, but that wouldn't make it productive or even intelligent. Would you like an article pointing out the similarities between male JW's and castrated dogs? I'm sure we could find plenty that would be true.

Should I make a stink about this or not?
by merfi ini've been working at the same hospital since 1991. a jw chick is hired this past january.
the hospital friends have been and are my support system as well as my 'team'.. a nurse friend played stupid last week and talked to the jw girl.
the jw asked her what religion she was.

I'm with Scully, also. I think sometimes you have to let jws like this know that the rules are different in the real world, and their control tactics have no place outside their little domain, which is the kingdom hall. In the real world, you cannot get away with affecting the workplace with extreme relgious views, especially when your views cause conflict and strife. This takes away from productivity, which employers do not appreciate. Although I admire Jesus' advice about handling things person to person, I think in this case it is important to let your superiors know that your first desire is to keep any negative personal garbage from detracting from the work at hand. Don't let her pull you into a dramatic scenario that will make you both look bad. Nip it in the bud by immediately going over her head and then move on.
Just what I think. Good luck.

There is nothing special in the book, except for in my personal copy, where you will find lots of pictures I drew while I was bored at pioneer school and also lots of notes I wrote to my buddies about the single girls who were in school with us.
