I'm sorry, Sparkplug. I am going through this on a smaller scale with my grandmother. Just try to separate what you feel is your duty as a daughter from how your mother treats you. I know that sounds simplistic, but there is no possible revenge on a person who is at this point. Life has dealt the cruelest blow that she could ever feel, and as unsatisfying as it may be, she may never admit she was or is wrong. You have to worry about your own life and sanity, and ironically, part of that may entail figuring out what you truly feel your obligation to her is. Keep yourself ok first, then do what you feel you need to do for her. Think about what you can live with later - and then realize that you have the right to preserve yourself so that you can.

Leolaia's Scenic Travel Photos
by Leolaia inwell, i thought i'd start a fluff thread for once, so i'm posting here some of my favorite photos from my many trips over the years.

Leolaia,
I can't imagine being on that bridge and seeing the city. If I remember right it's on the 42nd floor (the bridge, I mean). I didn't realize that those towers weren't the tallest anymore until yesterday. If I'm not mistaken though, they are by far the tallest twin towers, and only a few feet shy of Taipei 101. I read somewhere that the towers combined with the bridge are meant to resemble a doorway; which is such an amazing way to view a skyline.

Leolaia - I just saw the other Petronas Towers photos you posted - thank you so much! Those are shots that I haven't seen in any book. I'm going to make one my wallpaper. All of your other photos are beautiful, as well. I am so happy for you that you have gotten to see so much of the world.

How do you know what I am? The point is this is an informational site. People have points of interest regarding the Org and it's beliefs. I do not come across as knowing everything, but I have read comments from people who claim to know everything. They also insult people with all kinds of comments. I've never insulted anyone on this site, I respect everyones opinion. But what I am seeking is information from every source, cause I firmly believe that everyone has an opinion and should be heard.
Now Frannie to my knowledge Jesus did not leave the religion of the Jews but he fulfilled it's obligation and constituted a new convenant with his followers. Christians are not under the law of the Jews, but still obey the principles of the law. So how could Jesus start a new religion?
Well, I learn something new every day. Here I've been walking around thinking that Judaism and Christianity were different religions.

Leolaia - those are beautiful photos. I especially love your shot of the Petronas towers in Kaula Lumpur. Those buildings are at the top of my travel wish-list.

I absolutely loved The End of Faith, and I am looking forward to reading The God Delusion. I watched some of Richard's video on Youtube that goes with the book, and it was really good. I especially loved it when Ted Haggard loses it and acts like an idiot.

From Borat:
Azamat: [subtitled] We should go back to New York. At least there are no Jews there.
Also,
Borat: [to American Audience] We support your war of terror.
Borat: May George Bush drink the blood of every man, woman, and child in Iraq!
More serious, from American History X:
Bob Sweeney: There was a moment... when I used to blame everything and everyone... for all the pain and suffering and vile things that happened to me, that I saw happen to my people. Used to blame everybody. Blamed white people, blamed society, blamed God. I didn't get no answers 'cause I was asking the wrong questions. You have to ask the right questions.
Derek Vinyard: Like what?
Bob Sweeney: Has anything you've done made your life better? -

Yes! I work for myself in the service industry, and the second I stop working, I stop making money. I'm not using any of my natural talents, and it eats at me every day. When I was in high school, I blew off teachers who tried to talk to me about scholarships. Some very close friends of the family who are "worldly" offered to pay for me to go to college and my parents turned them down.
I'm trying to turn my bitterness into motivation. I started school about six months ago, and I am planning to complete at least a four year degree. It is tough to stay motivated while working full time, and it's discouraging to be 31 and just starting, but it's just something that I feel like I need to do.

My picketing adventures
by Junction-Guy inwell some of you here have already read about them at another board, but for you others i thought i would give you a little update on what i have been doing.
the last 2 weekends i have started picketing 2 different kingdom halls here locally, this is the first time that i have ever done this, but i figure with all the years of penned up frustrations, that this was something i need to do.. i have really enjoyed doing this and the amount of support i have received from the public is phenomenal.
i have a sign given to me by undaunted danny that says "jehovah witness destructive cult, thousands of dead kids from their bogus medical dogma" and at the bottom of the sign there are 2 bumperstickers that say "stop wathctower abuse" and also the web addresses to freeminds and silentlambs.

Good job, man. I'm impressed with the courage it would take to do that. I bet it feels good to come back at them with the same level of "in-your-face" that they dish out to all the other religions.
