9 minutes in and I gave up.
Nothing new and it's the usual religious BS.
as some of you know i'm not a religious person at all after leaving the jw's but there was a link on another site i was on and the link was to a pastor's vid.
(about exposing jw's as false prophets etc)being that i'm not at all interested in hearing a sermon, i was going to just leave the site and continue researching some other stuff but then curiosity made me wonder if he truly knew anything about jw's or was just going to be another religious leader downing jw's in an effort to make his version of the "gospel" sound more appealing.i have to admit i was pleasantly surprised at the extent of his knowledge of scripture that jw's like to use as well as the history behind the organization.
many of the points he brought out we've covered here before and he arranged them in an easy to understand and follow sequence.i'd be interested in hearing what some of you think on the job he did on exposing the jw's(wt)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3o56jwgbjk.

35-year-old female in california here.
never a jw, but have had bible studies and attended several meetings and even a convention once.
i've always been agnostic with leanings toward the belief in some deity or other, although the more i learned from the jw's, the more i've learned to doubt, not just their teachings, but the fundamental teachings of all religions.
I never said I believed in the Illuminati.
the Illuminati HAS been proven to exist.
Personally, I don't know what to believe.
I know you won't like me saying this but I feel so sorry for you. It feels like you're trapped in some kind of no man's land.
Just keep reading stuff that challenge your beliefs. Christopher Hitchens makes compelling arguments.
i'm reading an excellent book about defectors from the mormon church called differing visions: dissenters in mormon history.
through a collection of essays from many academic authors it looks at the life stories of dissenters and reasons for departure, as well as analysing the impact of their dissent on the church itself.
fascinating stuff and makes me wish there was a similar volume looking at the key dissenters from jws/watchtower and the impact they had.
Re Lloyd Evans
I know Lloyd's approach isn't to everyone's cup of tea...but...I know of 2 JW's who have woken up due to JW Survey and his videos. So horses for courses and all that.
Re Paul Grundy
I'd argue that in recent times, post Ray Franz and Carl O. Jonsson, Paul is the most influential ex-JW dissenter. JW Facts is probably the most important single resource on the internet for research. He should be on any list.
all us creationists try to do is offer true evidence that the one and only god is out there watching and looking down on us.
we present that certain scientists know the truth about god and that he is everything that we see from trees, life, weather, the air we breath, and even the most simple molecules.
but of course you atheists reject it because it is your nature to not be humble and see god because you want to rule your own life.
You're making yourself suffer when you do that.
I'm not you know. Being an atheist is the happiest I've ever been.
jehovahs witnesses think that just the bible is proof that god exists but they are wrong.
there is another mode for how he exists.
now we all know many scientists who are creationists now weren’t creationists until they examined the evidence for themselves.
Well, first of all, what created the nothing?
Creationists have the same problem. Who created God? And where is the evidence that supports your answer.
i've heard some weird stories coming from jws about the paranormal.
i know about the warnings about items that come from unbelievers -- those don't interest me as much.
what i am interested in are actual experiences in stories of the paranormal you've heard or experienced yourself.
Randi $1,000,000 paranormal challenge
For 2 decades James Randi has offered $1M to anyone who can prove paranormal abilities in a lab.
Strangely enough no one has collected.
anyone see that there is a long letter on how to handle child abuse?.
Therefore, if the body of elders believes that one who has engaged in child sexual abuse decades ago may now qualify for minor privileges, such as carrying or adjusting microphones, operating audio/video equipment, or assisting with accounts, literature, magazines, or territories, they should assign two elders to call the Service Department. The as-signed elders should call the Service Department before any congregation privileges are extended.
This is a first isn't it? Putting a suggested time period of 'decades'?
.
our korean brothers are very shy.

I can't read Korean, but if this video is a CoC video then it's brilliant:
could someone give me the email address of the contact from the charity commission.....i can't find it anywhere....my husband who is not on this forum but is an ex elder would like to contact him.

Contact details are in the first post in this thread:
interesting debate between lawrence krauss and greg epstein.. watch the debate on al-jazeera.. what do you think?.
eden.
I was really surprised the hear of the hate crime, murder of three Muslim girls, by an atheist.
Looking at the below link, it can't see any evidence his atheism was the reason for shooting these girls.
According to the police report
On February 10, the Chapel Hill Police Department said their investigation indicates that the crime was motivated by an ongoing neighbor dispute over parkingAlso
Also:
According to his current wife Karen (who has also announced that she is divorcing him), he did not commit the shooting due to religious bias, but because of a longstanding parking dispute, and that he had problems with several other neighbors.
Atheism doesn't have 'doctrines' from old books that suggest killing 'non-believers'.
Unlike certain religions.
