  The Enormous Price of Lack of Faith

  trusting god is far more than merely believing he exists.. i just this evening watched a senate session on cspan on the subject of delaying deciding on preemptive strikes against iraq.

  it was very interesting to see how lack of trust in god causes irrational fear that people will be willing to sacrafice all their wealth, their comforts, and even the lives of their children.

  without the belief that god exists and that spiritual forces exist there is hopelessness.

  You're flippin' and floppin about now, from sheer delight at being so persecuted, and at having me act so predictably, huh.

  God never allows us as mankind and not individuals to suffer beyond our ability to recover.

  Wow... isn't that a source of comfort to the individual. "I'm going down, but mankind will survive."

  Without the belief that God exists and that spiritual forces exist there is hopelessness. The world without God is too dangerous to live.

  I harbor no belief that God or spiritual forces exist. But contrary to your claim, I live a happy, positive life. That hopelessness you speak of is yours, man, not everybody's. You're only speaking for yourself and other paranoid types like you. The world without God is exactly what we are in right now. It's exactly as dangerous as it is, no more, no less.

  If I clung to belief in God, I would hope it would be due to something more than just a fear that things are out of control and an inner need for the illusion of a hand on the wheel.

  Ye of Little Faith

  i am pained by the lack of faith by people on the board recently both in god and in general.. it is obvious that unbelievers in god would have such lack of faith.

  but it is not confined to them alone but to others that though believers in god have little trust and confidence in him.. these of little faith constantly cry for proof and evidence both of god existence or in the case of bill bowens letter to the wts proof of govering body members guilt as child molesters.

  they haven't the ability to believe or have faith without physical evidence.. one of my main mentors is tv minister fred price which i watch every sunday morning.

  Your thoughts are well expressed, Mary. The point I made is simply that atheists, in general don't care whether or not you can prove or disprove the existence of God. It's the fantasy-sword-wielding Christians who are constantly bringing this up (witness this thread). If no Christian ever brought this subject up, I would never talk about it, because I don't proselytize my beliefs. I just hold them.

  Ask me what I believe, and I'll tell you. Don't ask, and I won't. Misrepresent me; tell lies about me, and I'll set the record straight. That's all.

  all week long, much has been done here that could rip silentlambs apart.

  pat garza has faced ridicule and scorn, bill bowen is now also being drug about by his short hairs over his letters by all you arm chair attorney's who haven't contributed an iota of what he has or placed yourselves anywhere near harm's way as he has.

  all i can say is i'm damned ashamed of all of you and i'm through with this shit!!!!!.

  it was a beautiful day for an outside wedding.

  maybe this isn't the place to attack someone like Bill

  I don't think of it as a place to attack anybody. But I don't consider sincere questions, deserving of answers, to be attacking, either. What better place to ask these questions than here, where most of us are sympathetic to the cause? Credibility is just as important as enthusiasm in this endeavor. A single false, sensational accusation will give the ADD-addled public the excuse it needs to categorize, file, and dismiss from further consideration this entire situation. We are wise to hash these things out among ourselves.

  But let the hashing be done with maturity and focus.

  sex outside of marriage

  i'm not a jw but my girlfriend has been brought up with this faith and is unsure on the decsions she has tomake concerning out relationship.

  we are madly in love and i can honestly say i could spend the rest of my life with her but i will be going to med school in about 18 months so marriage is not a valid option.

  we have an active sexlife, but do not participate in full intercourse.

  Clue me in on why this is so. My brother got married fresh out of high school, went to college and became a doctor. His wife also went to college and became a nurse. They're still together, still work together (she's his office manager) have five kids.

  Billygoat got married!

  i went to a beautiful wedding today.

  billygoat a/k/a andrea macelfresh was married to neil weathersbee (mozzer4life) in an outdoor ceremony overlooking a small lake.

  the weather was perfect, the bride was beautiful, and andi and neil looked very happy.

  It was a wonderful day, watching those two accomplishing what they have planned and worked toward for the year-and-a-half or so that I've known them. Neil, never a witness, has shown extraordinary understanding and support to Andi regarding her upbringing as a JW and the attendant baggage, such as it is (which includes posting on forums like this and occasionally attending Apostofests). Andi, possessing a solid faith in God and expressing it through the Baptist religion, has upheld, explained and defended her faith well in conversations with me and others; has acted on her faith by going on a "mission" to another country for a period of time; and along with Neil, has lived in day-to-day life and activities according to their conviction.

  I respect these two more than words can say, and feel honored that they count me among their friends.
