What I Like About Most Of You Here & The 3 ...

a british compliment ... your'e all soooo preposterously predantic!!.

one thing that always made me question jw thinking so much as a kid, were those 3 dots in quotes taken from professionals in the magazines.

that space i always knew was a misrepresentation of facts and it interested me highly that to verify such comments was always most difficult in that position.. that lil space i reckon was one of the reasons for my very first initial doubts at around 14. i would always go further in reading than most, past the scripture given in the body of the public talk to check out whether that was in fact what the scriptures were saying compared to the brothers comments.. hooray and cheers for a questioning mind.

trick or treating

of all the holidays, for me halloween has the least appeal.. i have a memory of going trick-or-treating once, at my "worldly" father's insistence (he roasted peanuts in the oven for the door-knockers... i remember), about the time my mom learned the truth.

i must've been about five years old.. despite the fact that i'm a hard-core agnostic and a fear of gods or demons are a non-issue, i still have trouble encouraging kids -- under the guise of costumes and fun -- of extorting treats from neighbors.

can i get a witness?

I suggest volunteering at your neighborhood PTA carnival, or something similar (like the Baptist Church's "Fall Festival" being held on the 31st here), if you're not into the trick or treat scene. I, for one, am looking forward to it more this year than I ever have. It'll be the first time I've taken part in Halloween in my own house in a nice little friendly neighborhood teeming with young childrien. The candy is already bought; the pumpkin sits on the kitchen cabinet waiting for facial surgery; and poor Yorick sits in the living room window grinning at passers-by, a red candle waxed to his gleaming top, red wax run in rivulets in different directions down his bony sides and solidified in one eye socket. Alas, poor Yorick! No Visine can help him now.

during the baptism talk in a recent assembly the co delivering the talk apparently made this statement:.

'you have often been warned about bad association outside the congregation - we want to warn you about bad association within the congregation.

some might approach you with misinformation about jw's they have picked up from enemies of the truth and try to confuse you do not listen to them talk to your elders about them.'.

Darn good advice. Of course, we wouldn't want to get these people confused with those who have picked up true information about JW's, in which case the wise course would be to examine the information closely and act as your heart guides you.

Here's an interesting one. It's kind of hard to tell what position this cat is in, so let me describe it. From her middle on back, she's on her tummy; her body is facing down toward the bed. From her middle up, she's on her back... she's twisted 180 degrees. Both front feet are sticking up in the air, and she has her head turned sideways, chewing contentedly on the cover of my book.
