Don't some JW women wear little charms of watchtowers on chains around their necks? I have read this different places before but never seen anyone wearing one... I know it's slightly off topic, but it reminded me...

The Stake is a more pagan symbol than the Cross
by jwfacts ini just found an interesting sumerian myth that i wanted to share.
the watchtower claims that the cross was not used by true christians and is of pagan origins.
(watchtower 1989 may 1 p.26 it reveres a pagan symbol masquerading as christian.

Where else has WT slammed higher education?
by kristyann ini know that i have not been on this discussion forum for quite a long time, and to anyone that might have messaged me, i'm sorry if i didn't get back to you and i will still try to.
i kept very busy with school, and then after my finals i had so much going on with family members visiting from out of town for christmas, new year's and a couple of birthdays in the family.
i hope everyone had a great christmas and i was hoping that you could help me out with something.. i am trying to collect as many articles and publications from the watchtower society that frown upon college and higher education as possible (don't ask why, it's just a little personal project of mine).

Hi everyone
I know that I have not been on this discussion forum for quite a long time, and to anyone that might have messaged me, I'm sorry if I didn't get back to you and I will still try to. I kept very busy with school, and then after my finals I had so much going on with family members visiting from out of town for Christmas, New Year's and a couple of birthdays in the family. I hope everyone had a great Christmas and I was hoping that you could help me out with something.
I am trying to collect as many articles and publications from the Watchtower Society that frown upon college and higher education as possible (don't ask why, it's just a little personal project of mine). I know that recently the Watchtower started again tightening the reins on higher education. I remember that those two recent issues of the Watchtower (I think that they were in October) really slammed college. I also know that the book "Questions Young People Ask...Answers That Work" also STRONGLY implies that a "career" as a pioneer is more worthwhile than a worldly college education. So I have those recent issues of the Watchtower and also the Questions Young People Ask book... but I know that there have got to be many, many more. If you all could get back to me on some of the places where the Watchtower has slammed higher education, or "strongly implied" that "youths" should not go there and instead should pioneer, please let me know. It can be recent stuff or much older stuff, it can be the magazines, books, anything. Just let me know and I'll be on the hunt for them. (I know it sounds like a strange project, but I AM using it for something).
Also, if anyone knows of the places where the Watchtower Society has knocked things like extracurricular activities, sports, hobbies, etc. for young people, could you please let me know where those types of things could be found, too? I am aware that I could find a lot of this using a search engine and I have, but I know that you guys are the best sources of information and I want to make sure I don't miss anything.
Thanks so much! Hope you all had a great Christmas... and I can honestly say I have missed this forum. :-) -

Primetime show w/sick perverts
by kristyann inokay, they sure are having a lot of television programs lately regarding sexual abuse/assault, etc... did anyone just see that primetime show on abc about the sick guy that was making phone calls to fast food places and saying he was a police officer and telling managers to strip search employees and hit them and make them perform sexual acts and stuff?
and the freaking managers and stuff actually did it!
i almost cried... it was really sick.

The whole thing was videotaped... and the guy who made the phone call and the guy who did the sexual abuse are both in jail awaiting trial... you could look it up in court records, I imagine... do a search for "mcdonald's strip search" I suppose... but yeah it was all on surveillance cameras... I actually saw it happen and I don't think these two men would be willing to go to jail for a stunt... believe me, they're in jail. There's tons of police records on it and everything.
I do believe people are stupid enough to go along with it because 1) people are sick perverts and 2) look at the type of people who (generally) manage fast food places... no offense to anyone who runs one who might be okay, but most are trashy and dumb as rocks!
But I do agree about not being able to trust the news in many regards...

Wanna play a game?...Go to hell!!!
by dezpbem ini bought an unusual board/card game the other day.
in this game you play a train engineer driving trians to deliver souls to hell.
there are 7 levels of hell and the engineer that delivers the most souls to their right level of hell wins and is spared eternal damnation for one more day.

I can't even describe it anymore because I get too upset over it... I think these people are the definition of evil for sure and I think their faces should be bashed in with baseball bats. I don't have one ounce of compassion for them... I don't know, I was just wondering if anyone else saw that? Seeing as to how we were talking about that sick Dateline show from last week...

Hey toer... Judas and Lucas aren't books of the Bible... you should really be angry with the Watchtower, because they are obviously preventing you from getting any sort of education. I am not saying this as a joke or to be funny, either.
Anyway, a really sick thing that Jehovah's Witnesses do, toer, is murder their children by not allowing them to have blood transfusions. So you say that they don't go to war... but I know of a war that is carried out against innocent children by allowing them to just lay there and die... and I know of a war that is carried out against innocent children by allowing them to be MOLESTED OVER AND OVER AGAIN and then telling them it's their fault or it's their imagination, and if they call the police they'll be disfellowshipped. You should really look into the Watchtower's policy on child abuse and sexual abuse and see if that makes you comfortable or not.

Why is Jehovah organization or Jehova's Witness so critizise?
by toer5777 inwhy not the catholic church or others religions?
i dont understand that how a religion that douesn't go to war, don't buy guns, they preach for free they dont get paid, there not rasist, they love there neighbors they treat others well, they dont bother you if you dont want them to pass by your house they wont.
why so much hate, if they go strictly by what the bible says.

Hey toer... do you need me to edit your posts for you? I thought the "Theocratic Ministry School" was supposed to be the equivalent of a "college education" and give everyone who attends "excellent speaking and communication skills?"
But that's okay, I'm just kidding around with you, toer. I think that you should definitely stick around and read what some of the people on this board have to say, and keep an open mind, and most of all, THINK FOR YOURSELF. Also, you should check out freeminds.org and read some of the information and stories there.

Do you believe in Karma? Why or why not?
by AlmostAtheist ini haven't read up on it, and my only exposure to it is a few people that say they believe in it.
correct my amateurish view of it, please.. karma is the overriding force in the universe that keeps the good/evil scales in balance.
if you do something rotten, you'll get something rotten back on you.

No, because wouldn't O.J. Simpson be writhing in pain somewhere and burning to shreds instead of playing golf every single day?
I do, however, believe that people will one day AFTER THIS LIFE be held accountable for what they did... but as far as the actual concept of "karma," no.

Why do dubs bother having children?
by gringojj inmy mother in law had 4 kids and none of them are currently "progressing in the truth".
she flat out told my wife that she was sad that none of her kids were in the truth and that it would be a waste of time to have relationships with any of them because of that.
so why even bother bringing kids into "this wicked system of things"?.
-
kristyann
Yeah, I agree completely... it gives them someone to boss around for a little while, and then when the kid leaves because they're too smart for it, it gives them someone to blame for things, whine about, etc. The JW parents of the guy I am dating are hicks and seem to have had kids so that they could have some people to do stuff around the house for them... they live in like this old run-down dump and have the kids do all of the work around the house. The mother has no job but doesn't cook or clean or anything... the kids do all that... the father doesn't do anything, either. Actually, I think a lot of hicks (not just JW ones) have kids for these reasons (and also to take care of them when they're old so they won't be alone). But since many JW parents have kids much smarter than them that they end up shunning anyway, I think it's just to have someone to blame... and also in the case of the guy I am dating, his parents OF COURSE needed someone to beat with a belt (or a wooden spoon or hairbrushes or paint stirrers or their fists) and someone to pull the hair of and someone to push down stairs when they were angry! They needed someone to literally PUNCH IN THE FACE when they were angry... so that's why they had kids! Isn't that a beautiful reason? Poor, innocent little babies who did nothing wrong and who didn't ask to be born, let alone to such low-lives...
